Moreover Yoshiyyahu kept a passover to the Lord in Yerushalayim: and they killed the paschal lamb on the fourteenth day of the first month.
And Yoshiyahu made in Jerusalem a Pesach (sacrifice) for the L rd. And they slaughtered the Pesach on the fourteenth day of the first month.
וַיַּעֲמֵ֥ד הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים עַל־מִשְׁמְרוֹתָ֑ם וַֽיְחַזְּקֵ֔ם לַעֲבוֹדַ֖ת בֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָֽה׃{ס}
And he set the priests in their watches, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the Lord,
And he established the priests in their watches, and he strengthened them for the service of the L rd.
and he said to the Levites who taught all Yisra᾽el, who were holy to the Lord, Put the holy ark in the house which Shelomo the son of David king of Yisra᾽el did build; you need no longer carry it upon your shoulders: serve now the Lord your God, and his people Yisra᾽el,
And he said to the Levites, who taught all of Israel, who were holy to the L rd: Place the holy ark in the house built by Solomon son of David, king of Israel: You no longer need carry [the ark] on your shoulder. Now, serve the L rd your G d and His people Israel.
and prepare yourselves by the houses of your fathers, according to your divisions, according to the writing of David king of Yisra᾽el, and according to the writing of Shelomo his son.
And prepare (yourselves) by your fathers' houses according to your divisions [as indicated] in the writing of David king of Israel and in the writing of Solomon his son.
And stand in the holy place according to the sections of the families of the fathers’ houses of your brethren the people, and according to the division of the families of the Levites.
And stand in the holy place [i.e., in the azarah] by the divisions of the fathers' houses, your brethren, the sons of the people, and the divisions of the fathers' houses of the Levites.
וְשַׁחֲט֖וּ הַפָּ֑סַח וְהִֽתְקַדְּשׁוּ֙ וְהָכִ֣ינוּ לַאֲחֵיכֶ֔ם לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת כִּדְבַר־יְהֹוָ֖ה בְּיַד־מֹשֶֽׁה׃{פ}
So kill the paschal lamb, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moshe.
And slaughter the Pesach and cleanse yourselves and prepare your brethren to do according to the word of the L rd by the hand of Moses.
וַיָּ֣רֶם יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ לִבְנֵ֪י הָעָ֟ם צֹ֞אן כְּבָשִׂ֣ים וּבְנֵי־עִזִּים֮ הַכֹּ֣ל לַפְּסָחִים֒ לְכׇל־הַנִּמְצָ֗א לְמִסְפַּר֙ שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים אֶ֔לֶף וּבָקָ֖ר שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֑ים אֵ֖לֶּה מֵרְכ֥וּשׁ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃{ס}
And Yoshiyyahu gave to the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the paschal offerings, for all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks: these were of the king’s substance.
And Yoshiyahu set apart for the sons of the people sheep, lambs, and kids, all for Pesach (sacrifices), for all who were found [in Jerusalem], thirty thousand (animals) in number, and cattle [for festive peace-offerings], three thousand — these from the king's stock.
And his princes gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Ḥilqiyya and Zekharya and Yeĥi᾽el, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the paschal offerings two thousand six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
And his officers set apart a gift for the people — for the priests and for the Levites. Shilkiyah and Zecharyahu and Yechiel, the princes of the house of G d, gave to the priests for Pesach (sacrifices) two thousand and six hundred (animals), and cattle, three hundred.
And Kananyahu, and Shema῾yahu, and Netan᾽el, his brethren, and Ḥashavyahu, and Ye῾i᾽el, and Yozavad, chiefs of the Levites, gave to the Levites for paschal offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
And Chonanyahu, and Shemayahu and Nethanel, his brothers, and Chashavyahu and Yeiel and Yozavad, the chief of the Levites, set apart for the Levites for Pesach (sacrifices) five thousand (animals), and cattle, five hundred.
So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the king’s commandment.
And the [order of] service was established. And the priests stood at their stations, and the Levites, according to their divisions, as commanded by the king.
And they killed the paschal lambs, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them.
And they slaughtered the Pesach and the priests sprinkled [the blood] from [the basins in] their [the Levites'] hands, and the Levites flayed [(the skin of the Pesach)].
And before they gave them to the divisions of the fathers’ houses of the people, they set aside the burnt offering, to offer to the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moshe. And so they did with the oxen.
And they removed the [parts to be] burnt — (to give them [(i.e., the parts to be eaten)] to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the sons of the people) — to sacrifice to the L rd, as written in the book of Moses.
And they roasted the paschal lamb with fire according to the ordinance: but the other holy offerings they boiled in pots, and in cauldrons, and in pans, and carried them swiftly among all the people.
And they cooked the Pesach in fire according to the law ["roasted in fire" (Exodus 12:8)], and the hallowed things [i.e., the peace-offerings] they cooked in pots and in cauldrons and in pans, and they hurried (them) to all the sons of the people.
And afterwards they made ready for themselves, and for the priests: because the priests the sons of Aharon were busy offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests the sons of Aharon.
And afterwards they [the Levites] prepared (it) for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron [(who were busy)] with sacrificing the burnt-offering [i.e., the devoted portions] and the fats [(of the Pesach)] until the night, so that the Levites prepared (it) for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron.
And the singers the sons of Asaf were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Asaf, and Heman, and Yedutun the king’s seer; and the gatekeepers were posted at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
And the singers, the sons of Asaph, were at their stations, as commanded by David and Asaph and Heiman and Yeduthun the king's seer. And the gatekeepers were at each gate. They had no need of leaving their service, for their brother Levites prepared for them.
So all the service of the Lord was prepared on the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the Lord, according to the commandment of king Yoshiyyahu.
And the entire service of the house of the L rd was established on that day, to perform the Pesach (sacrifice) and to sacrifice burnt-offerings on the altar of the L rd as commanded by King Yoshiyahu.
And the children of Yisra᾽el who were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread for seven days.
And the children of Israel (who were) found [in Jerusalem] performed the Pesach (sacrifice) at that time, and the festival of matzoth, seven days.
וְלֹא־נַעֲשָׂ֨ה פֶ֤סַח כָּמֹ֙הוּ֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מִימֵ֖י שְׁמוּאֵ֣ל הַנָּבִ֑יא וְכׇל־מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל׀לֹֽא־עָשׂ֡וּ כַּפֶּ֣סַח אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֣ה יֹ֠אשִׁיָּ֠הוּ וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֨ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֤ם וְכׇל־יְהוּדָה֙ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הַנִּמְצָ֔א וְיוֹשְׁבֵ֖י יְרוּשָׁלָֽ͏ִם׃{ס}
And there was no passover like that kept in Yisra᾽el from the days of Shemu᾽el the prophet; nor did any of the kings of Yisra᾽el keep such a passover as Yoshiyyahu kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Yehuda and Yisra᾽el that were present, and the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
And such a Pesach had not been made in Israel since the days of Samuel the prophet. And all the kings of Israel had not made the likes of the Pesach that had been made by Yoshiyahu and the priests and the Levites and all of Judah who [(lived in other cities and)] were found [there], and the dwellers of Jerusalem.
In the eighteenth year of the reign of Yoshiyyahu was this passover kept.
In the eighteenth year of Yoshiyahu's reign was this Pesach made.
After all this, when Yoshiyyahu had prepared the temple, Nekho king of Miżrayim came up to fight against Karkemish by Perat: and Yoshiyyahu went out against him.
After all this, Yoshiyahu having established [the order of] the house, Nechoh, king of Egypt, went up to war in Karkemish near the Euphrates, and Yoshiyahu went out against him.
But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with thee, thou king of Yehuda? I come not against thee this day, but against the house with which I am at war: for God commanded me to make haste: forbear from meddling with God, who is with me, so that he does not destroy thee.
And he [(Nechoh)] sent messengers to him, saying: What [dispute is there between] me and you, king of Judah? Not against you [do I go out] today, but to my house of war [(against the king of Ashur)], and G d has told me to make haste. Forbear from [resisting] G d who is with me, that He not destroy you.
Nevertheless Yoshiyyahu would not turn his face from him, but he sought an opportunity to fight with him, and he did not hearken to the words of Nekho from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.
But Yoshiyahu did not turn his face away from him, for in order to fight him he had disguised himself. And he did not pay heed to the words of Nechoh from the mouth of G d, and he came to do battle in the valley of Megiddo.
And the archers shot at king Yoshiyyahu; and the king said to his servants. Get me away; for I am grievously wounded.
And the archers shot at King Yoshiyahu. And the king said to his servants: Take me away for I am sorely smitten!
וַיַּעֲבִירֻ֨הוּ עֲבָדָ֜יו מִן־הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗ה וַֽיַּרְכִּיבֻ֘הוּ֮ עַ֣ל רֶ֣כֶב הַמִּשְׁנֶה֮ אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ֒ וַיּוֹלִיכֻ֙הוּ֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם וַיָּ֕מׇת וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּקִבְר֣וֹת אֲבֹתָ֑יו וְכׇל־יְהוּדָה֙ וִיר֣וּשָׁלַ֔͏ִם מִֽתְאַבְּלִ֖ים עַל־יֹאשִׁיָּֽהוּ׃{פ}
So his servants took him out of that chariot, and put him in the second chariot that he had; and they brought him to Yerushalayim, and he died, and was buried in the tombs of his fathers. And all Yehuda and Yerushalayim mourned for Yoshiyyahu.
And his servants transferred him from the chariot and drove him in his second chariot. And they brought him to Jerusalem and he died (there), and he was buried in the crypts of his fathers. And all of Judah and Jerusalem mourned Yoshiyahu.
And Yirmeyahu lamented for Yoshiyyahu: and all the singing men and the singing women spoke of Yoshiyyahu in their laments to this day, and made them an ordinance in Yisra᾽el: and, behold, they are written in the laments.
And Jeremiah lamented Yoshiyahu. And all the singers and songstresses mentioned Yoshiyahu in their lamentations, (as they do) until this day. And they made them [(such lamentations)] a statute for Israel; and, behold, they [(the lamentations over Yoshiyahu)] are written in the [book of] lamentations [(viz. Eichah 4)].
Now the rest of the acts of Yoshiyyahu, and his goodness, according to that which was written in the Tora of the Lord,
And the rest of the account of the reign of Yoshiyahu and his kindnesses according to what is written in the Torah of the L rd,
וּדְבָרָ֕יו הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים וְהָאַחֲרֹנִ֑ים הִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֔ים עַל־סֵ֥פֶר מַלְכֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וִיהוּדָֽה׃{פ}
and his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Yisra᾽el and Yehuda.
and his earlier and later deeds, behold, they are recorded in the book of [the chronicles of] the kings of Israel and Judah.
