In the ninth year of Żidqiyyahu king of Yehuda, in the tenth month, Nevukhadreżżar king of Bavel and all his army came against Yerushalayim, and they besieged it.

In the eleventh year of Żidqiyyahu, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.

And all the princes of the king of Bavel, came in, and sat in the middle gate, namely Nergal-sar᾽eżer, Samgar-nevo, Sarsekhim Rav-saris, Nergal-sar᾽eżer Rav-mag, with all the remainder of the princes of the king of Bavel.

And it came to pass, that when Żidqiyyahu the king of Yehuda, and all the men of war saw them, then they fled, and went out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s garden, by the gate between the two walls: and he went out the way of the Arava.

But the army of the Kasdim pursued after them, and overtook Żidqiyyahu in the plains of Yereĥo: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nevukhadreżżar king of Bavel to Rivla in the land of Ḥamat, where he gave judgment upon him.

Then the king of Bavel slew the sons of Żidqiyyahu in Rivla before his eyes: also the king of Bavel slew all the nobles of Yehuda.

Moreover he put out Żidqiyyahu’s eyes, and bound him with fetters, to carry him to Bavel.

And the Kasdim burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with fire, and broke down the walls of Yerushalayim.

Then Nevuzar᾽adan the captain of the guard carried away captive into Bavel the remnant of the people that remained in the city and the deserters who had deserted to him, with the rest of the people that remained.

But Nevuzar᾽adan the captain of the guard left of the poor of the people, who had nothing, in the land of Yehuda, and gave them vineyards and fields at the same time.

Now Nevukhadreżżar king of Bavel gave charge concerning Yirmeyahu to Nevuzar᾽adan the captain of the guard, saying,

Take him, and look well to him, and do him no harm; but do to him as he shall say to thee.

Then sent Nevuzar᾽adan the captain of the guard, and Nevushazban, the Rav-saris, and Nergal-sar᾽eżer the Rav-mag and all the princes of the king of Bavel:

and they sent, and took Yirmeyahu out of the court of the guard, and committed him to Gedalyahu the son of Aĥiqam the son of Shafan, that he should carry him home: so he dwelt among the people.

Now the word of the Lord came to Yirmeyahu, while he was shut up in the court of the guard, saying,

Go and speak to ῾Eved-melekh the Kushi, saying, Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Yisra᾽el, Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.

But I will deliver thee on that day, says the Lord: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid;

for I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey to thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, says the Lord.
