And it came to pass, that when Yirmeyahu had made an end of speaking to all the people all the words of the Lord their God, for which the Lord their God had sent him to them, all these words,

then ῾Azarya the son of Hosha῾ya and Yoĥanan the son of Qareaĥ, and all the proud men, spoke, saying to Yirmeyahu, Thou speakest falsely: the Lord our God has not sent thee to say, Do not go into Miżrayim to sojourn there:

but Barukh the son of Neriyya sets thee on against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Kasdim, that they might put us into Bavel.

So Yoĥanan the son of Qareaĥ, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, did not obey the voice of the Lord, to dwell in the land of Yehuda.

But Yoĥanan the son of Qareaĥ, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Yehuda, that were returned from all nations, into which they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Yehuda;

men, and women, and children, and the king’s daughters, and every person that Nevuzar᾽adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedalyahu the son of Aĥiqam the son of Shafan, together with Yirmeyahu the prophet, and Barukh the son of Neriyya.

And they came into the land of Miżrayim: for they did not obey the voice of the Lord: thus they came to Taĥpanĥes.

Then the word of the Lord came to Yirmeyahu in Taĥpanĥes, saying,

Take great stones in thy hand, and hide them in the mortar in the brick work, which is at the entrance of Par῾o’s house in Taĥpanĥes, in the sight of the men of Yehuda;

and say to them, Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Yisra᾽el; Behold, I will send and take Nevukhadreżżar the king of Bavel, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them.

And when he comes, he shall smite the land of Miżrayim, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.

And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Miżrayim, and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall fold up the land of Miżrayim, as a shepherd folds up his garment; and he shall go out from there in peace.

And he shall break up the pillars of Bet-Shemesh, that are in the land of Miż­rayim; and he shall burn with fire the houses of the gods of Miżrayim.
