The word that Yirmeyahu the prophet spoke to Barukh the son of Neriyya when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Yirmeyahu in the fourth year of Yehoyaqim the son of Yoshiyyahu king of Yehuda, saying,
Thus says the Lord, the God of Yisra᾽el to thee, O Barukh;
Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord has added grief to my pain; I am weary in my sighing, and I find no rest.
Thus shalt thou say to him, The Lord says thus; Behold, that which I have built I break down, and that which I have planted I pluck up, namely this whole land.
וְאַתָּ֛ה תְּבַקֶּשׁ־לְךָ֥ גְדֹל֖וֹת אַל־תְּבַקֵּ֑שׁ כִּ֡י הִנְנִי֩ מֵבִ֨יא רָעָ֤ה עַל־כׇּל־בָּשָׂר֙ נְאֻם־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְנָתַתִּ֨י לְךָ֤ אֶֽת־נַפְשְׁךָ֙ לְשָׁלָ֔ל עַ֥ל כׇּל־הַמְּקֹמ֖וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר תֵּלֶךְ־שָֽׁם׃{פ}
And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, says the Lord: but thy life I will give to thee for a prey in all the places to which thou goest.
