וִֽירִיחוֹ֙ סֹגֶ֣רֶת וּמְסֻגֶּ֔רֶת מִפְּנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֵ֥ין יוֹצֵ֖א וְאֵ֥ין בָּֽא׃{ס}
Now Yeriĥo was closely shut up because of the children of Yisra᾽el: none went out, and none came in.
And the Lord said to Yehoshua, See, I have given into thy hand Yeriĥo, and its king, and the mighty men of valour.
And you shall go round the city, all the men of war, going about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.
And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven shofarot of rams’ horns: and on the seventh day you shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the shofarot.
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, when you hear the sound of the shofar, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.
And Yehoshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven shofarot of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord.
And he said to the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let those stripped for war pass on before the ark of the Lord.
And it came to pass, when Yehoshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven shofarot of rams’ horns passed on before the Lord, and blew with the shofarot: and the ark of the covenant of the Lord followed them.
And those stripped for war went before the priests that blew with the horns, and the rearward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the shofarot.
And Yehoshua had commanded the people, saying, You shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall you shout.
וַיַּסֵּ֤ב אֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָה֙ אֶת־הָעִ֔יר הַקֵּ֖ף פַּ֣עַם אֶחָ֑ת וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה וַיָּלִ֖ינוּ בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃{פ}
So the ark of the Lord compassed the city, going about it once: and they came to the camp, and spent the night in the camp.
And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord.
And seven priests bearing seven shofarot of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew with the shofarot: and the warriors went before them; but the rearward came after the ark of the Lord, the priests going on, and blowing with the shofarot.
And the second day they went round the city once, and returned to the camp: so they did six days.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and went round the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they went round the city seven times.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the shofarot, that Yehoshua said to the people, Shout; for the Lord has given you the city.
And the city shall be devoted, it, and all that is in it, to the Lord: only Raĥav the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.
But as for you, keep away from the devoted things, lest you make yourselves accursed, when you take of the devoted things, and make the camp of Yisra᾽el a curse, and trouble it.
But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated to the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the shofarot: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the horn, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both men and women, young and old, as well as oxen, sheep, and asses, with the edge of the sword.
But Yehoshua had said to the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot’s house, and bring out from there the woman, and all that she has, as you swore to her.
And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Raĥav, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them outside the camp of Yisra᾽el.
And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was in it: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the Lord.
וְֽאֶת־רָחָ֣ב הַ֠זּוֹנָ֠ה וְאֶת־בֵּ֨ית אָבִ֤יהָ וְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּ֙ הֶחֱיָ֣ה יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וַתֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ בְּקֶ֣רֶב יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֤י הֶחְבִּ֙יאָה֙ אֶת־הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֥ח יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ לְרַגֵּ֥ל אֶת־יְרִיחֽוֹ׃{פ}
And Yehoshua saved Raĥav the harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelt in Yisra᾽el to this very day; because she hid the messengers, whom Yehoshua sent to spy out Yeriĥo.
וַיַּשְׁבַּ֣ע יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖יא לֵאמֹ֑ר אָר֨וּר הָאִ֜ישׁ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָקוּם֙ וּבָנָ֞ה אֶת־הָעִ֤יר הַזֹּאת֙ אֶת־יְרִיח֔וֹ בִּבְכֹר֣וֹ יְיַסְּדֶ֔נָּה וּבִצְעִיר֖וֹ יַצִּ֥יב דְּלָתֶֽיהָ׃{ס}
And Yehoshua charged them at that time by oath, saying, Cursed be the man before the Lord, that rises up to build this city Yeriĥo: he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
So the Lord was with Yehoshua; and his fame was throughout all the country.
