There was a man from Mount Ephraim named Michoyuh.

He said to his mother, "The eleven hundred pieces of silver stolen from you, when you cursed, even uttering in my ear—look, the silver is in my possession, I stole it." His mother replied, "May my son be blessed before Adonoy!"

He returned the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother. His mother declared, "I expressly consecrated the silver to Adonoy, from my hand to my son's, to make a sculpted and a molten figure, so I shall promptly return it to you."

He then restored the silver to his mother. His mother took two hundred silver pieces and gave them to a refiner who made a sculpted and molten figure. They were placed in Michoyuh's house.

Michah was a man who owned an idolatrous temple. He made a tunic and figurines, and inducted one of his sons, so that he served as his priest.

In those days there was no king in Yisroel. Every man did what appeared appropriate to him.

There was a young man from Bais Lechem in Yehudah, of the family of Yehudah. He was a Leivi, and he lived there.

The man departed from the city—from Bais Lechem, in Yehudah—to live anywhere he would find. He arrived at Mount Efraim, at Michah's Temple, intending to make his way.

Michah said to him, "Where have you come from?" He said to him, "I am a Levi, from Bais Lechem of Yehudah. I am going to live anywhere I will find."

Michah told him, "Remain with me, and serve as my patron and priest. I shall provide you with ten silver pieces per year. an appropriate wardrobe, and your board." The Leivi acquiesced.

The Levi consented to remain with the man. The young man was like one of his sons to him.

Michah inducted the Leivi. The young man became his priest, and he remained at Michah's temple.

Michah declared, "Now I know that Adonoy will be benevolent to me, since the Levi has become my priest."
