For what reason do we eat this matzah? This must be explained since we had already been commanded to eat the matzah without an explanation of why. Rabbi Kimchi explains that they were commanded to eat matzah in Egypt before they left in anticipation of what was about to happen. God knows all possible futures and He already knew that they would have to leave Egypt in haste. Even they had wanted to do so because they were already commanded to eat unleavened bread for seven days and to eat the Passover offering together with matzah and maror.
