Had He led us through on dry land but not drowned our enemies within it: The author should have used the word tava, drowned, instead of the word shika since this is the word which is used in scripture: “ The pick of his officers are drowned in the Sea of Reeds.” The word shika, refers to the first part of drowning. That is, first they began to sink into the depths of the sea and then they began to drown.
