One should not recite Kiddush until dark, meaning when the stars emerge. He recites Kiddush and the Shehecheyanu blessing. If it falls on Saturday night, he says "Yaknehaz" (the order of blessings). If he forgot to make Havdalah until he began the Haggadah, he should complete the Haggadah until "Who redeemed Israel" and afterwards make Havdalah. If he remembered in the middle of the meal that he did not make Havdalah, he makes Havdalah in the middle of his meal over the cup. If he did not intend to drink wine during the meal, he recites the blessing "Borei Pri Hagafen." If he remembered after he recited Birkat Hamazon, he says Hallel and Havdalah over one cup since it is impossible otherwise. One should not wash his hands before Kiddush. If his hands are not clean, he should wash a little without reciting the blessing "Al Netilat Yadayim." The measure of the cup is a revi'it. Ideally he should drink all of it; after the fact, most of a revi'it suffices, and he must drink without pausing more than the time of drinking a revi'it. If he paused more, then for the first two cups he must drink again, but for the last ones he need not. If he paused more than the time of eating half a loaf, he has not fulfilled his obligation and must drink again even for the last two cups. Women are also obligated in the four cups and in all the commandments practiced on this night. One should not use a cup whose mouth is narrow such that he cannot drink a revi'it at once. Between the first and second cup he should not drink except for great need.
