Blessed are You, Adonoy,

our God, King of the Universe,
הַמַּעֲבִיר שֵׁנָה מֵעֵינָי
Who removes sleep from my eyes
וּתְנוּמָה מֵעַפְעַפָּי:
and slumber from my eyelids.
וִיהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ
And may it be Your will
יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ
Adonoy, our God
וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ
And God of our fathers,
שֶׁתַּרְגִּילֵֽנוּ בְּתוֹרָתֶֽךָ
to make us study Torah regularly,
וְדַבְּקֵֽנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶֽיךָ,
and hold fast to Your commandments.
וְאַל תְּבִיאֵֽנוּ
Do not bring us
לֹא לִידֵי חֵטְא
into the grasp of sin,³⁰

וְלֹא לִידֵי
nor into the grasp of
עֲבֵרָה וְעָוֹן
transgression or iniquity.³¹

Let us not be dominated
יֵֽצֶר הָרָע
by the Evil Inclination.
וְהַרְחִיקֵֽנוּ מֵאָדָם רָע
Keep us far from an evil person,
וּמֵחָבֵר רָע
and from an evil companion.
וְדַבְּקֵֽנוּ בְּיֵֽצֶר הַטּוֹב
Make us hold fast to the Good Inclination,
וּבְמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים
and to good deeds,
וְכוֹף אֶת יִצְרֵֽנוּ
and compel our Evil Inclination
לְהִשְׁתַּעְבֶּד־לָךְ
to be subservient to You.
וּתְנֵֽנוּ הַיּוֹם וּבְכָל יוֹם
Grant us this day and every day
לְחֵן וּלְחֶֽסֶד וּלְרַחֲמִים
favor,³⁴ kindness,³⁵ and compassion³⁶

בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ
in Your eyes
וּבְעֵינֵי כָל רוֹאֵֽינוּ
and in the eyes of all who see us,
וְתִגְמְלֵֽנוּ חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים:
and bestow bountiful kindness upon us,
חזן: בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה
Blessed are You, Adonoy,
גּוֹמֵל חֲסָדִים טוֹבִים
Who bestows bountiful kindness
לְעַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל:
upon His people Yisrael.
יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ
May it be Your will,
יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהַי
Adonoy, my God
וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי
and God of my fathers,
שֶׁתַּצִּילֵֽנִי הַיּוֹם וּבְכָל יוֹם
to save me today and every day
מֵעַזֵּי פָנִים וּמֵעַזּוּת פָּנִים
from arrogant men and from arrogance;
מֵאָדָם רָע, וּמֵחָבֵר רָע
from an evil man, from an evil companion,
וּמִשָּׁכֵן רָע
from an evil neighbor;
וּמִפֶּֽגַע רָע
from an evil mishap
וּמִשָּׂטָן הַמַּשְׁחִית
and from the destructive Satan;
מִדִּין קָשֶׁה
from a difficult judgment
וּמִבַּֽעַל דִּין קָשֶׁה,
and a difficult opponent,
בֵּין שֶׁהוּא בֶן בְּרִית
whether he is a fellow Jew
וּבֵין שֶׁאֵינוֹ בֶן בְּרִית:
or not a fellow Jew.
