And there is a difference between whether the verbs are next to one another by way of a verb (like כי יחטא ועשה - when he sins and does) or the second verb comes by way of an infinitive connected to the first through one of the four prefixes בכל"ם (like תחטא בעשותה) – then there will be a connection between the two verbs, and the first will depend on the infinitive as either an effect from a cause or through a connection in time. Like וקדשת את המזבח בכפרך (and you shall do the purification upon the altar when you make atonement for it)²⁵² andבבואם אל אוהל מועד ירחצו מים (when they go into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water)²⁵³.
