וכן אם בא סימן המספר אינו צריך סימן אחר. ואם בא סימן אחר אינו צריך סימן המספר. ואם באו שניהם – יש בו דרוש, כמו במה שכתוב "ויקרב את האיל השני איל המילואים". (צו ס' קפג)
And moreover, if the ordinal number of an object comes, then another specifier (of the object) is not necessary. And if another specifier comes, the ordinal number is not necessary. And if both come, there will be a homiletical interpretation, as when it is written, ויקרב את האיל השני איל המילואים (And the other ram was presented, the ram of consecration)²⁷¹.
When Leviticus 8:22 saysויקרב את האיל השני איל המלאים (And the other ram was presented, the ram of consecration), it says the ordinal number השני (the other) in order to teach that it was necessary that there be two rams²⁷².
