There is a difference between מכחיש (deny the truth) and מכחד (conceal the truth):
המכחד' מעלים הדבר מחברו, והוא לרוב בשוא"ת, ונקשר עם הדבר עצמו, ונמצא על דברים נעלמים בכלל

מכחד conceals a matter from one’s friend and is usually carried out by not doing or saying anything. And it is linked with the matter itself and is always found with respect to hidden matters.
אבל 'המכחש' יאמר הדבר הפך האמת (ויקרא סימן שעא)
