העינוי (suffering) comes on any matter of pain that one will feel through the subjugation of the powers of one’s soul. And in any place where העינוי is ascribed to the soul, it will always will be through the lack of eating and drinking. And העינוי will be according to the temperament of the man; there can be light suffering and difficult suffering. And העינוי is the same for all humans in precisely the lack of food and drink.
