ומסגולת הלשון כשמזכיר המנין לחודש –
Due to the elegance of the language, whenever it mentions the day of the month:
אם הוא מספר עד עשר לא יזכיר מלת "יום", רק יאמר "באחד לחודש", "בחמישה לחודש".
If it is a number less than ten, it will not mention the word יום (day); it will only say באחד לחודש (on the first of the month) or בחמישה לחודש (on the fifth of the month).
ומן עשרה ולמעלה יבוא מלת "יום" – "בארבעה עשר יום", "בחמישה עשר יום". וחז"ל נתנו טעם לזה (אמור ס' קמז)
And for numbers greater than or equal to ten, the word יום (day) comes - בארבעה עשר יום (on the fourteenth day), בחמישה עשר יום (on the fifteenth day). And the sages of blessed memory give a reason for this.
