כנם כ' הרמב"ם בפרק עשרה מאמרו' שמכ' כינס הי' נמי בישראל רק שלא היו עוקצים להם והביא ראי' מפסוקי' דבשאר מכות כתב דלא הי' רק במצרים לבד. מה דלא כתיב במכת כינם ע"ש ויש להביא ראי' להרמב"ם מהא דאי' במדרש פ' ויחי וקברתני בקבורת' שלא ירחשו כינ' על קברי וכפרש"י וקש' הא לא שלטו כינים בישראל ובעפרם אש"מ כמ"ש הרמב"ם ואפשר דזהו כוונת דוד בתהילים סי' ק"ה ויבא ערוב כינם בכל גבולם ר"ל אפי' בישראל בארץ גושן. והאי ערוב אין הכוונה על מכת ערוב היות. אלא ערוב של כינם כמו דאי' בילקוט פ' וארא ארבע עשר מיני כינם בא עליהם (ולא תקשי א"כ למה לא מזכיר מכ' ערוב וי"ל דלא מזכיר כל המכות ותידע דהא לא מזכיר במזמו' מכת דבר אלא דלא חש למחשב) ולולי דמסתפינא אני אומר כמ"ש בעל המסורה כנם הסמוך לאדם הוא כנם בקמץ והסמוך לבהמה הוא כנם בחירק לפ"ז י"ל דוודאי בישראל עצמם לא שלטו הכנם אבל בבהמת ישראל שלטו הכנם וזהו כנם בחירק בכל גבולם אפילו בבהמת ישראל כ' בסדר הדורות דהיו הכינים ברום ב' אמות:
Kinim - Lice: Unlike the other plagues which only affected the Egyptians, the plague of lice struck the Israelites. The only difference was the lice did not sting the Israelites. This is the meaning of the verse, “He spoke and there were swarms of insects (arov); lice (kinim) throughout the land.”²²¹ The reference to arovhere is not the fourth plague (wild animals) but to swarms of lice. All the plagues are not mentioned in Psalm 105 – arov (wild animals) is not mentioned but neither is the fifth plague, dever(pestilence).
