Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they execute it, because it is in the power of their hand.

וְחָמְד֤וּ שָׂדוֹת֙ וְגָזָ֔לוּ וּבָתִּ֖ים וְנָשָׂ֑אוּ וְעָֽשְׁקוּ֙ גֶּ֣בֶר וּבֵית֔וֹ וְאִ֖ישׁ וְנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃{ס}

And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Therefore thus says the Lord; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you go haughtily: for it will be a time of evil.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

In that day shall they take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, saying, We are utterly spoiled: he changes the position of my people; how he removes it from me, and divides our field amongst renegades!

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Therefore thou shalt have none that shall cast the line by lot in the congregation of the Lord.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

They preach, saying, Do not preach: they shall not preach concerning these things, that they shall not take shame.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

O thou that art named the house of Ya῾aqov, is the spirit of the Lord straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walks uprightly?

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

And against my people he raises him up as an enemy: you pull off the mantle from the front of the garment of them that pass by securely returning from war.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

The women of my people you cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children you take away my glory for ever.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

Arise, and depart; for this is not your place of rest; because of its uncleanness, it shall destroy with a grievous destruction.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

If a man walking in wind and falsehood would lie, saying, I will preach to thee of wine and of strong drink; he would even be the preacher of this people.

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

I will surely assemble, O Ya῾aqov, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Yisra᾽el; I will put them together like the sheep into a fold and like the flock in the midst of their pasture; they shall make a great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

עָלָ֤ה הַפֹּרֵץ֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם פָּֽרְצוּ֙ וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֔רוּ שַׁ֖עַר וַיֵּ֣צְאוּ ב֑וֹ וַיַּעֲבֹ֤ר מַלְכָּם֙ לִפְנֵיהֶ֔ם וַיהֹוָ֖ה בְּרֹאשָֽׁם׃{פ}

The Koren Jerusalem Bible

The breaker is come up before them: they have broken in, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king passes on before them, and the Lord at the head of them.
