A Prayer of David. Incline Thy ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy.
A prayer of David. Incline, O L rd, Your ear, and answer me; for I am poor and destitute.
Preserve my soul; for I am godly: O Thou my God, save Thy servant who trusts in Thee.
Guard my soul for I am saintly [(remaining silent to insult and abuse though I have the power to avenge myself)]. Help Your servant (You, my G d), who trusts in You.
Be gracious to me, O Lord: for I cry to Thee daily.
Be gracious unto me, O L rd, for unto You do I call all the day.
Rejoice the soul of Thy servant: for to Thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
Rejoice the soul of Your servant, for unto You, O L rd, do I lift my soul [i.e., direct my heart].
For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and of bountiful love towards all those who call upon Thee.
For You, O L rd, are good and forgiving, and profuse in lovingkindness to all who call upon You.
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
Hear, O L rd, my prayer, and give ear to the voice of my supplications.
On the day of my trouble I will call upon Thee: for Thou wilt answer me.
I call You in the day of my distress, [confident] that You will answer me.
Among the gods there is none like Thee, O Lord; nor are there any works like Thine.
There is none like You among the heavenly ones, O L rd, and there are none like Your deeds.
All nations whom Thou hast made shall come and prostrate themselves before Thee, O Lord; and shall glorify Thy name.
All the nations that You made will come and bow down before You, O L rd, and they will give honor to Your name.
For Thou art great, and doest wondrous things: Thou art God alone.
For You are great and perform wonders, You, G d, alone. [(Heaven and earth were created before the angels were created, wherefore the nations will honor Your name alone (as the Creator, and not theirs)].
Teach me Thy way, O Lord; I will walk in Thy truth: make my heart single to fear Thy name.
Teach me, O L rd, Your ways, so that I may walk in Your truth. Make my heart one, in fear of Your name.
I will thank Thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify Thy name for evermore.
I shall thank You, O L rd my G d, with all of my heart, and I shall extol Your name forever.
For great is Thy steadfast love towards me: and Thou hast delivered my soul from the depths of She᾽ol.
For Your lovingkindness is great upon me, and You have rescued my soul from the nether sheol [(whither adulterers are relegated) by removing my transgression [with Bathsheva, viz. II Samuel 12:13].
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assembly of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set Thee before them.
O G d, evil-doers have arisen against me, and the assembly of the arrogant have sought my soul and not placed You [i.e., Your fear] before their faces.
But Thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and bountiful in love and truth.
And You, O L rd, are a merciful and gracious G d, withholding wrath and profuse in lovingkindness and in truth.
O turn to me, and have mercy upon me; give Thy strength to Thy servant, and save the son of Thy handmaid.
Turn to me and be gracious unto me; give Your strength to Your servant and save the son of Your maidservant [(who humbles himself even more than a bought servant)].
עֲשֵֽׂה־עִמִּ֥י א֗וֹת לְט֫וֹבָ֥ה וְיִרְא֣וּ שֹׂנְאַ֣י וְיֵבֹ֑שׁוּ כִּֽי־אַתָּ֥ה יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עֲזַרְתַּ֥נִי וְנִחַמְתָּֽנִי׃{פ}
Show me a sign for good; that they who hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because Thou, Lord, hast helped me, and comforted me.
Set up for me a sign of good, and let my foes see it and be abashed; for You, O L rd, have [ever] helped me and consoled me.
