בֶּאֱמוּנָתְךָ. לְהַאֲמִין הַבְטָחָה שֶׁהִבְטַחְתַּנִי:
with Your faith to realize the promise that You promised me.
כִּי רָדַף אוֹיֵב נַפְשִׁי. כְּלוֹמַר: אִם חָטָאתִי לְךָ, הֲרֵי לָקִיתִי. וּכְנֶגֶד כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל נֶאֱמַר מִזְמוֹר זֶה:
For an enemy pursued my soul That is to say: If I have sinned before You, behold, I have suffered. This psalm was recited as referring to all of Israel in Babylon.
יִשְׁתּוֹמֵם. לְשׁוֹן אֹטֶם וְתִמָּהוֹן, כְּמוֹ ״וָאֵשֵׁב שָׁם שִׁבְעַת יָמִים מַשְׁמִים בְּתוֹכָם״ (יחזקאל ג:טו); ״וַתֵּשֶׁב תָּמָר וְשֹׁמֵמָה״ (שמואל ב יג:כ):

זָכַרְתִּי יָמִים מִקֶּדֶם. שֶׁהִפְלֵיתָ לָנוּ נִסִּים רַבִּים:

כְּאֶרֶץ עֲיֵפָה. בַּגּוֹלָה:

כָּלְתָה רוּחִי. הַמִּתְאַוֶּה וְאֵינוֹ מַשִּׂיג קָרוּי ״כִּלְיוֹן עֵינַיִם״ (דברים כח:סה) וְכִלְיוֹן רוּחַ:
