אֲזַמְּרָה לֵאלֹהַי בְּעוֹדִי. בְּעוֹד אֲנִי חַי:

עֶשְׁתֹּנוֹתָיו. מַחְשְׁבוֹתָיו:

אַשְׁרֵי. מִי שֶׁאֵל יַעֲקֹב בְּעֶזְרוֹ, שֶׁהִבְטִיחוֹ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא ״הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי עִמָּךְ וּשְׁמַרְתִּיךָ וַהֲשִׁיבֹתִיךָ״ (בראשית כח:טו). וְלָמָּה אַשְׁרָיו? לְפִי שֶׁהוּא עוֹשֶׂה שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ וְאֶת הַיָּם, וְכֵיוָן שֶׁהַכֹּל שֶׁלּוֹ, יֵשׁ בְּיָדוֹ לְשָׁמְרוֹ בַּיָּם וּבַיַּבָּשָׁה. אֲבָל מֶלֶךְ עוֹבֵד גִּלּוּלִים, אִם שׁוֹמְרוֹ בַּיַּבָּשָׁה אֵינוֹ יָכוֹל לְשָׁמְרוֹ בַּיָּם:
Praiseworthy is he in whose help is the God of Jacob, for the Holy One, blessed be He, promised him (Gen. 28:15): “Behold I am with you, and I shall guard You, etc., and I shall return you.” Now why is He praiseworthy? Because He made heaven and earth and the sea, and since all is His, He has the power to guard him on the sea and on dry land; but a mortal king, although he watches him on dry land, cannot watch him on the sea.
הַשּׁוֹמֵר אֱמֶת לְעוֹלָם. לְסוֹף דּוֹרוֹת רַבִּים הוּא מְקַיֵּם וְשׁוֹמֵר אֲמִתַּת הַבְטָחָתוֹ:
Who keeps truth forever To the end of many generations, He fulfills and keeps the truth of His promise.
יְעוֹדֵד. לְשׁוֹן כֹּחַ:
strengthens Heb. יעודד, an expression of strength.
יִמְלֹךְ ה׳ לְעוֹלָם. יְקַיֵּם אֶת מַלְכוּתוֹ בִּשְׁמִירַת בָּנָיו:
The Lord will reign forever He will perpetuate His kingdom with the redemption of His children.
