בכל עת יהיו בגדיך לבנים לעולם יראה עצמו כאילו נוטה למות ושמא ימות בשעתו ונמצא מת בחטאו לפיכך ישוב מחטאיו מיד שנא' שוב יום אחד וגו' לפיכך ישוב יום אחד לפני מיתתו ויפה שעה אחת בתשובה:

“Let your garments be always white” (Eccl. 9:8). He should always regard himself as if about to die, and perhaps he will die soon thus dying in sin,¹ therefore let him repent immediately of his sin, as it is written “ Repent one day before thy death, etc.” Therefore let him repent one day before his death, for one hour in repentance is good.²
