אהוב את השמא ושנא את מה בכך פירוש אהוב לומר שמא אם אומר דבר זה או אעשה או אלך לעשות או לראות דבר זה או אשמע דבר זה נעימות זמירות או אלך לטייל שמא יבא לגרום לי לידי חטא ושנא לומר כי מה בכך לספר חדושים ולשמוע דברי הבאי בשרירות לבי ולא אבא לידי חטא:
Love to say “perhaps,” and hate to say “so what.”¹ This means, love to say “perhaps, if I say this thing,” or “(perhaps) if I do,” or “(perhaps) if I go to do or see this thing,” or “(perhaps) if I hear this thing, or sweet songs,” or “If I go for a stroll, perhaps it will cause me to sin.” Let it be loathsome to you to say, “of what harm is it to tell of news and listen to vain matters as I please, I will not come to sin.”
