וְהַנְּסִיעָה לְקַאמִינִיץ הָיְתָה פְּלִיאָה גְּדוֹלָה מְאֹד, וְכָל הָעוֹלָם אָמְרוּ פֵּרוּשִׁים עַל זֶה, קְצָת דּוֹרְשִׁין לְשֶׁבַח וּקְצָת וְכוּ'. אֲבָל כֻּלָּם טָעוּ, אֲפִלּוּ אוֹתָן שֶׁאָמְרוּ לְשֶׁבַח לֹא כִּוְּנוּ כַּוָּנָתוֹ כְּלָל.
The journey to Kaminetz was a great mystery. Everyone had his own explanation, some praising the Rebbe and others doing the opposite. But they were all wrong. Even those who saw good in this journey did not come close to understanding its true purpose.
וַאֲפִלּוּ אוֹתָן שֶׁיָּדְעוּ קְצָת מֵחֲמַת שֶׁהוּא בְּעַצְמוֹ גִּלָּה לָהֶם אֵיזֶה רֶמֶז, אַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן לֹא יָדְעוּ כַּוָּנָתוֹ בִּשְׁלֵמוּת.
The Rebbe revealed some hint of his purpose to his close followers. But even though they knew a little, they did not fully comprehend his purpose.
וּכְבָר אָמַר דָּבָר נָאֶה עַל זֶה עַל מַה שֶּׁהָעוֹלָם טוֹעִין עַצְמָן בּוֹ תָּמִיד בְּכָל מַה שֶּׁהוּא עוֹשֶׂה וְכוּ'.
Once he made a clever remark about this, saying that people constantly mislead themselves regarding everything he does.
