שָׁמַעְתִּי בִּשְׁמוֹ שֶׁפַּעַם אֶחָד נָתַן הַטַּלִּית הַיָּשָׁן שֶׁלּוֹ בְּמַתָּנָה לְאֶחָד מֵחֲשׁוּבָיו.

The Rebbe once gave his old talit to one of his esteemed followers.
עָנָה וְאָמַר רַבֵּנוּ ז"ל, לְהָאִישׁ הַזֶּה שֶׁנָּתַן לוֹ הַטַּלִּית שֶׁלּוֹ: הִזָּהֵר מְאֹד לְכַבֵּד הַטַּלִּית הַזֶּה, כִּי כְּמוֹ מִסְפַּר שְׂעָרוֹת שֶׁיֵּשׁ בְּהַטַּלִּית, כָּל כָּךְ דְּמָעוֹת שָׁפַכְתִּי עַד שֶׁיָּדַעְתִּי מַהוּ טַלִּית.

He said, “Be very careful with this talit. I shed a tear for as many threads that are in this talit, until I understood the true meaning of a talit.”
