קַל יוֹתֵר לִתֵּן עֵצָה לְאַחֵר, מִלְּעַצְמוֹ. כִּי כְּשֶׁהָאָדָם בְּעַצְמוֹ צָרִיךְ לְעֵצָה קָשֶׁה לוֹ מְאֹד.

It is much easier to give advice to someone else. When you need advice, it is very difficult to give it to yourself.

כִּי בִּתְחִלָּה חוֹשֵׁב מַחֲשָׁבוֹת וְיֵשׁ לוֹ כַּמָּה סְבָרוֹת וְהוֹכָחוֹת שֶׁצָּרִיךְ לַעֲשׂוֹת וּלְהִתְנַהֵג כָּךְ. וְאַחַר כָּךְ כְּשֶׁנִּגְמָר בְּדַעְתּוֹ דֶּרֶךְ זֶה, בְּתוֹךְ כָּךְ חוֹזֵר וְעוֹלֶה בְּמַחֲשַׁבְתּוֹ סְבָרָא אַחֶרֶת. וּבָזֶה חוֹזֵר וְסוֹתֵר כָּל דֶּרֶךְ הָעֵצָה וְהַהַנְהָגָה רִאשׁוֹנָה שֶׁהָיָה בְּדַעְתּוֹ. וְיֵשׁ לוֹ הוֹכָחוֹת וּסְבָרוֹת רַבּוֹת לְהֵפֶךְ מַמָּשׁ.

After much deliberation, you may decide that one way is the best. You have many reasons and arguments to support this. But as soon as you make up your mind, other considerations enter, tearing down the basis of your original decision. Now it seems that the exact opposite is true.

אַשְׁרֵי הַזּוֹכֶה לְעֵצָה שְׁלֵמָה וּנְכוֹנָה מֵהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁלֹּא יֹאבַד עוֹלָמוֹ בְּחִנָּם ח"ו.

Fortunate is the person who is worthy of God’s complete counsel. He will then do what is proper and not lose his world in vain, Heaven forbid.
