פַּעַם אַחַת דִּבֵּר עִמִּי מֵעִנְיַן מִאוּס תַּאֲוָה הַיָּדוּעַ.
The Rebbe once spoke to me about the folly of sexual desires.
וְאָמַר אָז: מִי שֶׁמְּהַרְהֵר בְּהִרְהוּרֵי נִאוּף הוּא שׁוֹטֶה. כִּי הֲלֹא אֲפִלּוּ אִישׁ פָּשׁוּט שֶׁקּוֹרִין 'בַּעַל הַבַּיִת' הוּא גַּם כֵּן אֵינוֹ חָפֵץ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה נִתְפָּס ח"ו בְּעִנְיָן זֶה. אֲפִלּוּ אִם אֵינוֹ יְרֵא חֵטְא כְּלָל עַל כָּל פָּנִים בְּוַדַּאי אֵינוֹ רוֹצֶה שֶׁיִּהְיֶה לוֹ בִּזָּיוֹן בָּזֶה שֶׁיִּתְפְּסוּ אוֹתוֹ עִם אִשָּׁה אַחֶרֶת.
He said, “One who occupies himself with lewd thoughts is a fool. Even the most ordinary person would not want to be caught doing this. Even if he has no fear of sin, he still has no desire for the shame of being caught with another woman.
וְאִם כֵּן לָמָּה לוֹ לְהַרְהֵר וּלְצַעֵר נַפְשׁוֹ בְּחִנָּם?!
“So why engage in lustful thoughts? Why trouble your soul for nothing?”
(וּכְבָר מְבֹאָר שֶׁהַמַּחֲשָׁבָה בְּיַד הָאָדָם לְהַטּוֹתָה כִּרְצוֹנוֹ וְכוּ'. עַיֵּן בַּסְּפָרִים הַנִּדְפָּסִים בְּכַמָּה מְקוֹמוֹת מִזֶּה וְיֶעֱרַב לְךָ לָעַד אִם תִּרְצֶה לְקַבְּלָם בֶּאֱמֶת).
We have spoken of the fact that every person can control his thoughts and direct them as he wishes.
