הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ אֵינוֹ עוֹשֶׂה שְׁנֵי פְּעָמִים דָּבָר אֶחָד.
God does not do the same thing twice.
כִּי אֲפִלּוּ גִּלְגּוּלִים אֵין זֹאת הַנְּשָׁמָה נִתְגַּלְגֶּלֶת פַּעַם שְׁנִיָּה כְּמוֹת שֶׁהִיא, רַק זֹאת הַנֶּפֶשׁ עִם זֶה הָרוּחַ וְכַיּוֹצֵא בָּזֶה, כַּיָּדוּעַ. נִמְצָא שֶׁעַכְשָׁו כְּשֶׁזֶּה הַנֶּפֶשׁ מִתְקַבֵּץ עִם רוּחַ אַחֵר וְכַיּוֹצֵא בָּזֶה, שׁוּב אֵין זֶה מַה שֶּׁהָיָה קֹדֶם, כִּי אֵין הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ עוֹשֶׂה שְׁנֵי פְּעָמִים דָּבָר אֶחָד:
Even when a soul is reincarnated, it is not completely the same. The soul has a level of nefesh and a level of ruach, and the two are never brought back in the same combination.⁸³ 2, Sefer HaGilgulim 9; Likutey Halakhot, Gittin3:15; ibid., Perikah u-Tinah 4:23; Kochavey Or, p. 101, note 1. This implies that things must constantly improve (Sichot VeSipurim, p. 121, #33, #36). See “His Wisdom” #308. A nefesh may be reincarnated, but always with a different ruach. The complete soul is not the same, for God does not do the same thing twice.
