צָמְאָה נַפְשִׁי לֵאלֹהִים לְאֵל חָי
My body thirsts
לִבִּי וּבְשָׂרִי יְרַנְּנוּ לְאֵל חָי
for Elohim, for the Living God;
אֵל חַי בְּרָאָנִי וְאָמַר חַי אָנִי
my mind and flesh
כִּי לֹא יִרְאַנִי הָאָדָם וָחָי
sing out His praises.
בָּרָא כֹּל בְּחָכְמָה בְּעֵצָה וּבִמְזִמָּה
וְנֶעֶלְמָה מֵעֵינֵי כָל חָי
The one Who made me
רָם עַל כֹּל כְּבוֹדוֹ כָּל פֶּה יְחַו הוֹדוֹ
Said, “As I live!”
בָּרוּךְ אֲשֶׁר בְּיָדוֹ נֶפֶשׁ כָּל חָי
“For no man
הִבְדִּיל נִינֵי תָם חֻקִּים לְהוֹרוֹתָם
May see me and live.”
אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה אוֹתָם הָאָדָם וָחָי
מִי זֶה יִצְטַדַּק נִמְשַׁל כְּאָבָק דָּק
He made all with Wisdom
אֶמֶת כִּי לֹא יִצְדַּק לְפָנֶיךָ כָּל חָי
With discerning counsel.
בְּלֵב יֵצֶר חָשׁוּב כִּדְמוּת חֲמַת עַכְשׁוּב
How hidden is He
וְאֵיכָכָה יָשׁוּב הַבָּשָׂר הַחָי
From the eyes of all life!
נְסוֹגִים אִם אָבוּ מִדַרְכָּם שָׁבוּ
טֶרֶם יִשְׁכָּבוּ בֵּית מוֹעֵד לְכָל חָי
High above all His host;
עַל כֹּל חֲסָדֶיךָ תְּחַדֵּשׁ עֵדֶיךָ
They all announce his might.
פּוֹתֵחַ אֶת יָדֶךָ וּמַשְׂבִּיעַ לְכָל חָי
Blessed be He who has in hand
זְכוֹר אַהֲבַת קְדוּמִים וְהַחֲיֵה נִרְדָּמִים
The soul of every living thing.
וְקָרֵב הַיָּמִים אֲשֶׁר בֶּן יִשַׁי חָי
רְאֵה לִגְבֶרֶת אֱמֶת שִׁפְחָה נוֹאֶמֶת
He selected Jacob’s family
לֹא כִי בְנֵךְ הַמֵּת וּבְנִי הֶחָי
To teach them the Laws
הֲלֹא חֶלְקְך מֵרֹאשׁ חָלָק דָּמוֹ דְרֹשׁ
Which, if a man follow them,
וּשְׁפֹךְ אַף עַל רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר הַחָי
He will live.
אוּלַי עֵת בָּאָה לְהָשִׁיב נְשׂוּא חֲטָאָה
אֶל בֵּיתְךָ וְרָאָה אֹתוֹ וָחָי
Who could justify themselves?
אֶפְרֹשׂ לְךָ כַּפִּי וְאֶקּוֹד עַל אַפִּי
All are like dust.
בְּעֵת אֶפְתַּח אֶת פִּי בְּנִשְׁמַת כָּל חָי
Truly, none is worthy
