יוֹם זֶה מְכֻבָּד מִכָּל יָמִים, כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת צוּר עוֹלָמִים:
This day is glorified above all days, for on it did rest the Rock of Ages.
שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים תַּעֲשֶׂה מְלַאכְתֶּךָ,
Six days do your work,
וְיוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי לֵאלֹהֶיךָ,
And the Seventh Day is for your god.
שַׁבָּת לֹא תַעֲשֶׂה בוֹ מְלָאכָה,
On the Sabbath do not do work,
כִּי כֹל עָשָׂה שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים.
For all was made in the six days.
יוֹם זֶה מְכֻבַּד מִכָּל יָמִים, כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת צוּר עוֹלָמִים:

רִאשׁוֹן הוּא לְמִקְרָאֵי קֹדֶשׁ,
First is it to the holy readings,
יוֹם שַׁבָּתוֹן יוֹם שַׁבָּת קֹדֶשׁ,
A day of Shabbaton, the holy Sabbath day!
עַל כֵּן כָּל אִישׁ בְּיֵינוֹ יְקַדֵּשׁ,
Therefore all people with their wine sanctify it
עַל שְׁתֵּי לֶחֶם יִבְצְעוּ תְמִימִים.
over two loaves the pure ones cut.
יוֹם זֶה מְכֻבָּד מִכָּל יָמִים, כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת צוּר עוֹלָמִים:

אֱכוֹל מַשְׁמַנִּים שְׁתֵה מַמְתַּקִּים,
Eat fats, drink sweets,
כִּי אֵל יִתֵּן לְכֹל בּוֹ דְּבֵקִים,
For god will give to all who grasp him,
בֶּגֶד לִלְבֹּשׁ, לֶחֶם חֻקִּים,
clothing to wear, bread of the laws,
בָּשָׂר וְדָגִים וְכָל מַטְעַמִּים.
meat and fish and all delicacies.
יוֹם זֶה מְכֻבַּד מִכָּל יָמִים, כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת צוּר עוֹלָמִים:
This day is glorified above all days, for on it did rest the Rock of Ages.
לֹא תְחַסַּר נ"א: תֶחְסַר כֹּל בּוֹ וְאָכַלְתָּ,
Do not deny yourself anything on it, and eat
וְשָּׂבָעְתָּ וּבֵרַכְתָּ
and be satisfied and bless
אֶת ה' אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתָּ,
the LORD your god which you love
כִּי בֵרַכְךָ מִכָּל הָעַמִּים.
for he has blessed you above all other nations.
יוֹם זֶה מְכֻבַּד מִכָּל יָמִים, כִּי בוֹ שָׁבַת צוּר עוֹלָמִים:
This day is glorified above all days, for on it did rest the Rock of Ages.
הַשָּׁמַיִם מְסַפְּרִים כְּבוֹדוֹ,
The heavens tell his glory,
וְגַם הָאָרֶץ מָלְאָה חַסְדּוֹ,
and also the land is filled with his charity
רְאוּ כִּי כָל אֵלֶּה עָשְׂתָה יָדוֹ,
See that all this his hand made,
כִּי הוּא הַצּוּר, פָּעֳלוֹ תָמִים.
for he is the Rock, his act is perfect.
