נוהגין לעשות החופה תחת השמים לסימן ברכה. מוליכין את החתן תחת החופה ומעמידים אותו כשפניו למזרח, ומעמידין את הכלה לימין החתן. כשהחתן מגיע לחופה, מנגנים:
בָּרוּךְ הַבָּא. מִי אַדִּיר עַל הַכֹּל, מִי בָּרוּךְ עַל הַכֹּל, מִי גָּדוֹל עַל הַכֹּל, מִי דָּגוּל עַל הַכֹּל, הוּא יְבָרֵךְ אֶת הֶחָתָן וְאֶת הַכַּלָּה.
כשהכלה מגיעה סמוך לחופה פוסעים המחותנים לקראתה פסיעה אחת או שתים. הכלה מקיפה סביב החתן כנהוג, ומנגנים:
בְּרוּכָה הַבָּאָה. מִי בָּן שִׂחַ שׁוֹשַׁן חוֹחִים, אַהֲבַת כַּלָּה מְשׂוֹשׂ דּוֹדים. הוּא יְבָרֵךְ אֶת הֶחָתָן וְאֶת הַכַּלָּה.
מסדר הקידושין מצדד את עצמו ופניו למזרח, מברך על היין והחתן והכלה מכוונים לצאת בברכת הגפן:
The following berachos are said under the marriage canopy
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהוָֹה אֱלֺהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם בּוֹרֵא פְּרִי הַגָּֽפֶן:
Blessed are You, Adonoy, our God, King of the Universe Who creates the fruit of the vine.
החתן צריך לכוון לצאת בברכת האירוסין:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהוָֹה אֱלֺהֵֽינוּ מֶֽלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָֽׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו וְצִוָּנוּ עַל הָֽעֲרָיוֹת. וְאָֽסַר לָֽנוּ אֶת־הָאֲרוּסוֹת. וְהִתִּיר לָֽנוּ אֶת־הַנְּשׂוּאוֹת לָֽנוּ עַל־יְדֵי חֻפָּה וְקִדּוּשִׁין: בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהוָֹה מְקַדֵּשׁ עַמּוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל עַל־יְדֵי חֻפָּה וְקִדּוּשִׁין:
Blessed are You, Adonoy, our God, King of the Universe Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us regarding forbidden sexual relationships and forbade to us betrothed women, and permitted to us [those women] who are married to us by means of the chupah and consecration. Blessed are You, Adonoy, Who sanctified His people Israel through the chupah and consecration.
ושותה המברך, ושותין מעט החתן והכלה. ואחר כך מקדש החתן את הכלה בטבעת לפני עדים כשרים ואומר:
Both the groom and the bride drink from the cup. The groom then consecrates his bride to him with a ring, in the presence of two appropriate witnesses, and says:
You are hereby consecrated to me with this ring according to the rite of Moses and Israel.
קוראים הכתובה, ואחר כך מוסרים הכתובה לכלה, ומברכים על כוס שניה ואומר אלו שבע ברכות:
The kesubah (marriage contract) is read, after which the groom presents it to the bride. A second cup of wine is poured, and the following "Seven Berachos" are recited.
