ר׳ יהודה אמר וכו׳: רי״א, ודאי, הקב״ה משגיח עלינו תמיד וזוכר אותנו. ואם הוא לא היה משגיח בישראל, וזוכר אותנו, לא עמדו אפילו יום אחד בגלות. ז״ש, ואף גם זאת בהיותם בארץ אויביהם וגו'. כי הקב״ה אינו עושה עמנו כמעשינו.
Rabbi Yehuda said, etc.: Certainly the Holy One, Blessed Be He, always watches over us and remembers us. And if He did not watch over Israel and remember us, we would not be able to survive even one day in exile. This is what Scripture says: "And even this, while they are in the land of their enemies, etc.." For the Holy One, Blessed Be He, does not deal with us according to our works.
