רלה) וירדו בדגת הים וגו': סוד זה ראינו בספרו של שלמה המלך. שכל מי שמרחם על העני בחפץ לב, אין צורתו משתנה מצורת אדם הראשון, לעולם. וכיון שנרשמה בו צורת אדם, הוא שולט על כל בריות העולם על ידי צורה ההיא. ז"ש, ומוראכם וחתכם יהיה על כל חית הארץ וגו'. כולם זעים ומפחדים מאותה הצורה שנרשמה בו. כיון שמצוה זו, לחון את העניים, היא מצוה משובחת על כל שאר המצות, להתעלות בן אדם, בצורתו של אדם הראשון.
235. “And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, etc.” “And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea” [Genesis 1:26]. We have seen this secret in the book of King Solomon, that whoever has mercy upon the poor with a willing heart, his form never changes from the form of Adam the first [man]. Once the form of Adam is imprinted upon him, he rules over all the creatures of the world through that form. This is [the meaning of] the verse: “And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth etc.” [Genesis 9:2]. They all tremble and are scared of that form which was imprinted upon him. Since this commandment, to be gracious to the poor, is a finer commandment than all other commandments for elevating man in the form of Adam the first [man].
