And they sang praise — Devorah and Barak son of Avinoam — over the miracle and the salvation that was done for Israel on that day, saying

When the House of Israel rebelled against the Torah, the nations came upon them and drove them from their holdings; and when they returned to observe the Torah, they prevailed over the enemies who oppressed them, and they expanded all the borders of Eretz Yisrael. Therefore, over the punishment that broke Sisera and all his forces, and over the miracle and salvation done for Israel, the Sages gathered to sit openly in the batei knesset and to teach Torah to the nation. Thus they blessed and gave thanks before Hashem:

Hear, O kings who came with Sisera to battle; listen, O rulers who were with Yavin, king of Canaan — not through your strength and not through your might did you prevail or go up against the House of Israel. Devorah said in prophecy before Hashem, I praise, give thanks, and bless before Hashem, the God of Israel.

Hashem, Your Torah that You gave to Israel — when they transgressed it, the nations ruled over them; and when they returned to it, they prevailed over those who oppressed them. Hashem — on the day You revealed Yourself at Sinai to give it to them — from Se’ir You appeared to them; with the radiance of Your glory You were revealed over the boundaries of Edom; the earth trembled, the heavens melted, and even the clouds poured forth rain.

The mountains quaked before Hashem — Mount Tavor, Mount Hermon, and Mount Carmel — each trembling and contending with the other. This one said to the other: "Upon me let the Shechinah rest, for it is fitting that it be revealed upon me!" and the other said "Upon me let the Shechinah rest". The Shechinah rested upon Sinai, which is it was weak and small among the mountains. That Sinai trembled and quaked, and its smoke rose like the smoke of a furnace, before the glory of Hashem, God of Israel, was revealed upon it.

When the Israelites strayed to worship new deviant idols, worship in ways in which their forefathers had not been involved, the nations came upon them and drove them from their holdings. And when they returned to the Torah, they (the nations) were unable to win. And tthe hated Sisera came up against them with 40,000 captains of armies, 50,000 swordsmen, 60,000 spearmen, 70,000 shield-bearers, 80,000 archers, besides 900 iron chariots with him. And all these thousands, and all this army, could not stand before Barak and the 10,000 men with him.
