ומישאין לו יין ולא שכר אלא פת. כתב רבינו שמחה ז"צל דאפילו הכי מבדיל בלא כוס. דעל הכוס תקנוה אנשי כנסת הגדולה והיכא דאין לו מכל מקום מבדיל בלא כוס מידי דהוה אברכת המזון שטעונה כוס והיכא שאין לו כוס אפילו הכי מברכין ברכת המזון. ודוקא שאין יין באותה מקום אבל יש יין באיתו מקום יתענה עד שישלח אחר יין ויבדיל. כמו אמר אמימר דבת טוותא: מאיר בר ברוך:
A person who has neither wine nor any other liquor should nevertheless recite the habdalah, for the habdalah is similar to grace, and although grace should be said over wine, we must say it even when we have no wine.
