Q. Does the law requiring a blank space the width of a column at the end of the Scroll of the Law, apply to the Scroll of Esther? A. The Scroll of Esther is called a book and, also, a letter. Therefore, all the laws governing the writing of books apply also to the Scroll of Esther. However, since it is also called a letter, only three (Tashbetz: ten) of its seams are required to be sewed with dried tendons, the others may be sewed with threads of flax.
