We turned and went up the Boshon road. Og, King of the Boshon, went out toward us, he and his entire people, to [wage] war in Edrei.

Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and ῾Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edre῾i.

And we turned and we went up [northwards, in an ascent] by way of the Bashan, and Og the king of Bashan went out against us, he and all of his people, to war in Edrei.

Adonoy said to me, ‘‘Do not fear him, for I have put him in your hand, with all his people and his land, and you will do to him as you did to Sichon, King of the Emorites who was living in Cheshbon.’’

And the Lord said to me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst to Siĥon king of the Emori, who dwelt at Ḥeshbon.

And the L-rd said to me: Do not fear him [(Moses needing this reassurance in view of Og's having abetted Abraham (see Genesis 14:13 and Numbers 21:34)], for in your hand have I given him and all of his people and his land. And you shall do to him as you did to Sichon king of the Emori who dwelt in Cheshbon.

Adonoy, our God, put into our hand also Og, King of the Boshon, and his entire people; and we smote him without leaving him a survivor.

So the Lord our God delivered into our hands ῾Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we smote him until none was left to him remaining.

And the L-rd our G-d gave into our hands also Og the king of Bashan and all his people. And we smote him until there did not remain of him a remnant.

We conquered all his cities at that time; there was no city that we did not take from them—sixty cities, the entire province of Argov, the kingdom of Og in the Boshon.

And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argov, the kingdom of ῾Og in Bashan.

And we conquered all of his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, the entire province of the palace, [the province being named after the palace], the kingdom of Og in the Bashan.

All of these were fortified cities with high walls, gates and bolts; besides very many unwalled cities.

All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars; besides unwalled towns a great many.

All these, cities fortified with a high wall, doors, and bolt, aside from very many unwalled cities.

We annihilated them as we had done to Sichon, King of Cheshbon, annihilating every city’s men, women, and children.

And we devoted them to destruction, as we did to Siĥon king of Ḥeshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.

And we [progressively] laid them waste, as we did to Sichon king of Cheshbon, laying waste every city: men, women, and children.

And all the animals and the booty of the cities we plundered for ourselves.

But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.

And every beast and the spoil of the cities we scorned [to take] for ourselves, [being already sated with the plunder of Sichon (2:35)].

At that time we took the land from the possession of the two Emorite kings who were on the other side of the Yardein, from Wadi Arnon to Mount Chermon.

And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Emori the land that was on this side of the Yarden, from the wadi of Arnon to mount Ḥermon;

And we took at that time the land from the rule of the two kings of the Emori across the Jordan, from the stream of Arnon until Mount Chermon.

The Tzidonites call Chermon Siryon, and the Emorites call it Sneer.

(which Ḥermon the Żidonim call Siryon; and the Emori call it Senir;)

The Tziddonim called Chermon Siryon, and the Emori called it S'nir ["snow" (Chermon had four names, this betokening the excellence of Eretz Yisrael, each of the four kings desiring that it be associated with him)].

All the cities of the plain and entire Gilod and the entire Boshon to Salcho and Edre’i; cities of Og’s kingdom in the Boshon.

all the cities of the plain, and all Gil῾ad, and all Bashan, as far as Salkha and Edre῾i, cities of the kingdom of ῾Og in Bashan.

All the cities of the plain and all of the Gilead and all of the Bashan until Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in the Bashan.

For only Og, King of the Boshon, survived from the remainder of the giants. Look, his bed—an iron bed—isn’t it in Rabbas of the descendants of Ammon: nine amohs its length and four amohs its width, in a man’s amoh.

For only ῾Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Refa᾽im; behold, his bed is a bed of iron; is it not in Rabba of the children of ῾Ammon? nine cubits is the length of it, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

For only Og king of Bashan remained from the rest of the Refaim, [whom Amrafel and his allies killed in Ashteroth Karnayim, Og alone escaping (Genesis 14:5 and 14)]. Behold, his bedstead was a bedstead of iron. Is it not (to be seen) in Rabbath B'nei Ammon? Nine cubits ("forearms") its length and four cubits its breadth in the cubit of a man [i.e., Og].

And this land we inherited at that time. From Aro’er which is on Wadi Arnon and half of the Gilod hills and its cities—I gave to the Reuvenites and the Gaddites.

And this land, which we possessed at that time, from ῾Aro῾er, which is by the wadi Arnon, and half mount Gil῾ad, and its cities, I gave to the Re᾽uveni and to the Gadi.

And this land, [from the stream of Arnon until Mount Chermon (8)] we inherited at that time. From Aroer by the stream of Arnon and half the mountain of Gilead and its cities I gave to the Reuveni and the Gadi.

And the rest of the Gilod and all of the Boshon, the kingdom of Og, I gave to half the tribe of Menashe. The entire Argov province throughout the Boshon, that is called the land of the giants.

And the rest of Gil῾ad, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of ῾Og, I gave to the half tribe of Menashshe; all the region of Argov, with all Bashan, which was called the land of Refa᾽im.

And the remainder of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Menasheh, the entire province of the palace (see 4), with all the Bashan. That is called the land of Refaim [which I promised to Abraham.]

Yair son of Menashe took all of the Argov province until the border of the Geshurites and the Ma’achasites; and he named them for himself—the Boshon—the cities of Chavos Yair until this day.

Ya᾽ir the son of Menashshe took all the country of Argov as far as the border of the Geshuri and the Ma῾akhati; and called them (that is the Bashan) after his name, Ḥavvot-ya᾽ir, to this day.

Yair the son of Menasheh took the entire province of the palace until the boundary of the Geshuri and the Ma'achathi. And he called them by his name — Bashan Chavoth Yair — until this day.

And to Mochir I gave the Gilod.

And I gave Gil῾ad to Makhir.

And to Machir I gave the Gilead.

And to the Reuvenites and to the Gaddites I gave from the Gilod to Wadi Arnon, within the wadi and the border, until Yabok, the wadi at the border of the descendants of Ammon;

And to the Re᾽uveni and to the Gadi I gave from Gil῾ad to the wadi Arnon, the middle of the wadi as a border, as far as the torrent of Yabboq, which is the border of the children of ῾Ammon;

And to the Reuveni and the Gadi I gave from the Gilead until the stream of Arnon, the entire stream and more [land beyond the bank], and until the stream of Yabbok, the boundary of the children of Ammon.

and the Arava and the Yardein and the border; from Kinneres until Arava Lake, the salt lake, beneath the slopes of the crest to the east.

the ῾Arava also and the Yarden, as a border, from Kinneret as far as the Sea of the ῾Arava, even the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisga eastward.

And the plain and the [width of the] Jordan [opposite Gad, who were on the east side of the Jordan] and more [land], from the Kinnereth [on the western side of the Jordan], until the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, beneath Ashdoth Hapisgah to the east.

I commanded you at the time, saying, ‘‘Adonoy, your God, has given you this land to inherit it. Cross over in the forefront, ahead of your brothers the Bnei Yisroel, all valorous soldiers.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, The Lord your God has given you this land to possess it: pass over armed before your brethren the children of Yisra᾽el, all that are fit for the war.

And I charged you [the sons of Reuven and the sons of Gad] at that time, saying: The L-rd your G-d has given you this land to inherit. Armed shall you pass over before your brothers, the children of Israel, all men of war [They were warriors, who humbled the foe (viz. Numbers 32:17)].

But your wives and your children and your cattle—I know you own much cattle—will live in your cities, which I have given you.

But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that you have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;

Only your wives, your little ones, and your cattle — (for) I know that you have much cattle — shall abide in your cities which I gave to you.

Until Adonoy grants your brothers [peace] like you, and they too inherit the land that Adonoy, your God, is giving them across the Yardein. Then will you return each of you to his inheritance that I have given you.

until the Lord gives rest to your brethren, as well as to you, and until they also possess the land which the Lord our God has given them beyond the Yarden: and then shall you return every man to his possession, which I have given you.

Until the L-rd gives repose to your brothers as to you, and they, too, inherit the land which the L-rd your G-d gives to you across the Jordan; and (then) you shall return, each to his inheritance that I have given you.

And Yehoshua I commanded at that time, to say, ‘‘Your eyes will be seeing that everything Adonoy, your God, did to these two kings, so will Adonoy do to all the kingdoms that your are crossing into.

And I commanded Yehoshua at that time, saying, Thy eyes have seen all that the Lord your God has done to these two kings; so shall the Lord do to all the kingdoms into which thou dost pass.

And Joshua I charged at that time, saying: Your eyes that have seen all that the L-rd your G-d did to these two kings — thus shall the L-rd do to all of the kingdoms whither you pass.

Do not fear them, for Adonoy, your God, is the One Who is waging war for you.’’

You shall not fear them: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you.

Do not fear them, for the L-rd your G-d — it is He who wars for you.

I pleaded to Adonoy at that time, saying:

And I besought the Lord at that time, saying,

And I entreated (va'ethchanan) the L-rd [lit., I asked a "gratuitous" favor of Him. (I did not "pin" it on my desert)], at that time [(after I conquered the land of Sichon and Og, thinking that His vow (that I not enter "the land") might thereby have been annulled (the land of Sichon and Og also being reckoned "the land")], saying:

‘‘Adonoy, El him, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your powerful hand, that there is no power in heaven or on earth that can perform Your deeds and Your acts of power.

O Lord God, thou hast begun to show thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what god is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?

O L-rd (Yod-Keh-Vav-Keh), G-d (Elokim) [Merciful in Judgment], You began to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand [in the war of Sichon and Og]; for who is Almighty in the heavens and in the earth to do as Your deeds and as Your strength? [— therefore, show me the war of the thirty-one kings (of Canaan in the conquest of Eretz Yisrael proper)].

Please, allow me to cross over and see the good land that is across the Yardein, this good mountain and the Lebanon.’’

I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond the Yarden, that goodly mountain region and the Levanon.

Let me pass over and see, I pray You, the good land across the Jordan, this good mountain [Jerusalem] and the Levanon [the Temple].

Adonoy grew angry at me through your fault and did not heed me; Adonoy said to me, ‘‘Enough for you! Do not go on speaking to Me any more about this matter.

But the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the Lord said to me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more to me of this matter.

And the L-rd was wroth with me because of you, and He did not heed me. And the L-rd said to me: Enough for you! Presume to speak to Me no more about this thing [(so that they not say: "How intransigent the Teacher and how importunate the disciple!")]

Go up to the peak of the Pisgah and look around—west, north, south, and east—see with your own eyes; for you will not cross this Yardein.

Go up to the top of the Pisga, and lift up thy eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold with thy eyes: for thou shalt not go over this Yarden.

Go up to the top of the height and lift your eyes west and north and south and east; and see with your eyes [(You asked to be shown only the good land (25) — I will show you all of it!)], for you shall not cross this Jordan.

And command Yehoshua, and encourage him and embolden him, because he will cross at the head of this people and he will apportion to them the land that you will see.’’

But charge Yehoshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

And charge Joshua [concerning their contentiousness, their heresy, and their caviling (1:12)], and strengthen him and hearten him [with your words, that he not lose heart and say: Just as my master was punished because of them (and could not enter the land), so will it be with me], for [I warrant that] he will pass over before this people and he will cause them to inherit the land that you shall see [(If he passes over before them, they will inherit it; if he does not, they will not.)]

We lived in the valley facing Beis Peor.

So we abode in the valley over against Bet-pe῾or.

And we abode in the valley opposite Beth Peor [and you succumbed to idolatry — in spite of which (below): "And now, O Israel, hearken to the statutes, etc." and all will be forgiven you, whereas I did not merit such forgiveness!]
