It was in the days of Achashverosh—this was the Achashverosh who reigned from Hodu to Cush—one hundred and twenty-seven colonies.

Now it came to pass in the days of Aĥashverosh, (this is Aĥashverosh who reigned, from Hoddu as far as Kush, a hundred and twenty seven provinces:)

And it was in the days of Achashverosh [(a king of Paras, who ruled under Koresh at the end of seventy years of the Babylonian exile)]; he is Achashverosh [i.e., he persists in his evil from beginning to end]. He rules [(in his own right, not being of the royal seed)] from Hodu to Kush, one hundred and twenty-seven provinces [i.e., just as he reigned (with "tight" authority) from Hodu to Kush, which were right next to each other, so he ruled over one hundred and twenty-seven provinces.)]

Now it came to pass in the days of 🤴🏽, (this is 🤴🏽 who reigned, from 🇮🇳 as far as 🇪🇹, a 💯 and twenty 7️⃣ provinces)

In those days, when king Achashverosh had established himself on his imperial throne, in the capital city of Shushan.

And, at the consummation of these days, the king made for all the people who were found in Shushan the capital, from great to small, a feast for seven days, in the courtyard of the garden of the orchard of the king.

And when these days were fulfilled, the king made a 🎉 for all the people that were present in Shushan the 🏛️, both for great and small, 7️⃣ days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace:

[There were] pure white drapes, fine woolen cushions, bluish emerald techeiles wool, brocaded with strands of linen and mauve, woolen argaman threads, over silver columns and marble pillars; gold and silver couches on a floor inlaid with rare gems and marble, set in parallel circular patterns.

there were hangings of white, of fine cotton, and blue, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple on silver rods and pillars of marble: the divans were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of alabaster, marble, pearl and precious stone.

Chur, carpas, and tcheleth [(types of colored vestments)] embroidered with cords of fine linen and purple, [he spread] on rods of silver and pillars of marble. [(For seating at the feast, he set up)] divans of gold and silver on paving of bahat, shesh, dar, and sochareth [(costly stones)].

As for drinking; golden utensils, other sundry vessels, and plenty of royal wine, with majestic largesse.

And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being diverse from one another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the king’s bounty.

The drinking was proper, with no coercion; for the king had so basically instructed all his palace officials—to satisfy each individual’s desire.

On the seventh day, when the king was exhilarated by drink, he instructed Mehuman, Bizesa, Charvona, Bigsa, Avagsa, Zeisar, and Charkas, the seven servants who attended King Achashverosh’s person—

to present Queen Vashti before the king [clad] in the royal crown, to flaunt her beauty before the nations and the ministers, for she was of beautiful appearance.

Queen Vashti refused to attend as ordered by the king through the servants—and the king was extremely angered, his fury consumed him.

And Queen Vashti refused to come at the word of the king by the eunuchs. And the king was extremely wroth, and his wrath burned in him.

The king consulted the sages who were well versed in the affairs of the times, for the king would thus place matters before all who were versed in procedural and legal concerns.

and the next to him was Karshena, Shetar, Admata, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memukhan, the seven princes of Paras and Maday, who saw the king’s face, and who sat the first in the kingdom;)

and the closest to him [(in taking counsel)]: Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, Memuchan, the seven princes of Paras and Madai, who attended upon the king, who sat first in the kingdom —

and the next to him was Karshena, Shetar, Admata, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memukhan, the 7️⃣ princes of Paras and Maday, who saw the king’s face, and who sat the 1️⃣ in the kingdom;)

Concerning the proper procedure to follow with Queen Vashti, since she did not do as directed by King Achashverosh through the servants.

What shall we do to the queen Vashti according to law, because she has not performed the bidding of the king Aĥashverosh by the chamberlains?

Memuchan spoke before the king and the ministers: “It is not only his majesty that Vashti has aggrieved, but all the ministers and all the peoples in all of King Achashverosh’s colonies.

And Memukhan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen has not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the peoples who are in all the provinces of the king Aĥashverosh.

And Memuchan said before the king and the princes: Not against the king alone did Vashti sin, but against all the princes and all the peoples which are in all the land of King Achashverosh.

And Memukhan answered before the kingand the princes, 🙅🏽‍♀️ the queen has not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the peoples who are in all the provinces of the king 🤴🏽.

For the affair of the queen will extend to all women, so that they will disparage their husbands, saying, ‘King Achashverosh commanded that Queen Vashti be brought before him, but she never came!’

For this deed of the queen will be made known to all the women, so as to make their husbands contemptible in their eyes, when it shall be reported that the king Aĥashverosh commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

For the act of the queen [(in defying the king)] shall go forth to all the women to demean their husbands in their eyes, saying: King Achashverosh bade that Vashti, the queen, be brought before him, and she would not come.

For this deed of the queen will be made known to all the women, so as to make their husbands contemptible in their 👁️, when it shall be reported that the king 🤴🏽 commanded 🙅🏽‍♀️ the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.

This very day, the noblewomen in Persia and Media will say—those who have heard about the affair of the queen shall report it to the king’s ministers causing enormous disparagement and rage!

And the princesses of Paras and Maday, who have heard of the deed of the queen, shall be telling of it today to all the king’s princes. Thus shall there be contempt and wrath in plenty.

And this day, the princesses of Paras and Madai, who heard of the queen's act shall relate (it) to all the princes of the king, and therein lies [much] shame and anger.

And the princesses of Paras and Maday, who have heard of the deed of the queen, shall be telling of it today to all the king’s princes. Thus shall there be contempt and wrath in plenty.

If his majesty deems it proper, let him issue a royal edict, to be recorded in the bylaws of Persia and Media—never to be revoked—that Vashti must never again appear before King Achashverosh; and let his majesty bestow her regency on a companion of hers who is superior to her.

If it please the king, let a royal commandment go out from him, and let it be written among the laws of Paras and Maday, so that it be not altered, that Vashti come no more before king Aĥashverosh; and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.

If it finds favor with the king, let a royal decree [(of revenge, ordering the execution of Vashti)] go forth before him, and let it [(the decree)] be entered in the ordinances of Paras and Madai [(to apply to all women who thus demean their husbands)] — for Vashti did not come before King Achashverosh [(wherefore she was executed)]. And let the king give her queenship to her neighbor, who is better than she.

If it please the king, let a royal commandment go out from him, and let it be written among the laws of Paras and Maday, so that it be not altered, that 🙅🏽‍♀️ come no more before king 🤴🏽; and let the king give her royal estate to another who is better than she.

Now when the news of his majesty’s writ and its implementation reverberates throughout the kingdom—vast as it is—then all the wives will honor their husbands, from the greatest to the least significant.”

And when the king’s decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his kingdom, which is great, all the wives shall give honour to their husbands, both to high and low.

He dispatched scrolls to all of the king’s colonies—to each and every colony in its own script, and each and every people in their own language—instructing that every husband be dominant in his home, and that his people’s language be the one spoken.
