Adonoy said to Avram, Go from your land, from your birthplace, and from your father’s house, [and go] to the land that I will show you.

Now the Lord said to Avram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, to the land that I will show thee:

And the L-rd said to Avram: Go, for your sake, [for your benefit and for your good], from your land and from your birthplace, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.

I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great; and you will be a blessing [and you will be blessed].

and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

And I shall make of you a great nation, and I shall bless you [with wealth], and I shall make your name great, and you shall be a [source of] blessing.

I will bless those who bless you, and he who curses you, I will curse; and through you [and because of you], will be blessed all the families of the earth.

and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curses thee: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

And I shall bless those who bless you, and those who curse you shall I curse, and they shall bless themselves in you [i.e., in your name] all the families of the earth.

Avram went as Adonoy had told him, and Lot went with him. Avram was seventy-five years old when he left Charan.

So Avram departed, as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him: and Avram was seventy five years old when he departed out of Ḥaran.

And Avram went as the L-rd spoke to him, and Lot went with him. And Avram was seventy-five years old when he went out of Charan.

Avram took his wife Sarai, Lot, his brother’s son, all their possessions they had acquired, and the souls [people] that they had made [converted] in Charan, and they set out to go to the land of Canaan. They came to the land of Canaan.

And Avram took Saray his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had acquired in Ḥaran; and they went forth to go to the land of Kena῾an; and into the land of Kena῾an they came.

And Avram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls [i.e., bondsmen and bondswomen] that they had acquired in Charan, and they went out to go to the land of Canaan, and they came to the land of Canaan.

Avram passed [traveled] through the land until the place of Shechem, until the Plain of Moreh. The Canaanites were then in the land.

And Avram passed through the land to the place of Shekhem unto the terebinth of More. And the Kena῾ani was then in the land.

And Avram passed through the land until the place of Shechem, until Eilon Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land, [conquering Eretz Yisrael from the seed of Shem].

Adonoy appeared [became revealed] to Avram and said: To your descendants I will give this land. There he built an altar to [before] Adonoy Who had appeared [been revealed] to him.

And the Lord appeared to Avram, and said, To thy seed will I give this land: and there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

And the L-rd appeared to Avram and He said: To your seed shall I give this land. And he built there [for the tidings of the seed and of the land] an altar to the L-rd, who had appeared to him.

From there he moved [ascended] to the mountain that was east of Beis-Eil and set up his tent. Beis-Eil was to the west and Ai was to the east. There he built an altar to [before] Adonoy, and he proclaimed the Name, [and he prayed in the Name,] Adonoy.

And he removed from there to a mountain on the east of Bet-el, and pitched his tent, having Bet-el on the west, and ῾Ay on the east: and there he built an altar to the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.

And he removed from there [his tent] to the mountain east of Bethel. And he pitched his tent, [first Sarai's, then his], Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And he built there an altar to the L-rd, [perceiving prophetically that his children would go astray there by the sin of Achan (Joshua 7)], and he called, [interceding for them] in the name of the L-rd.

Avram journeyed, traveling steadily southward.

And Avram journeyed, going on still toward the Negev.

And Avram journeyed progressively southwards, [towards Jerusalem].

There was a famine in the land. Avram went down to Egypt to live there temporarily, for the famine was severe in the land.

And there was famine in the land: and Avram went down to Miżrayim to sojourn there; for the famine was severe in the land.

And there was a famine in the land [of Canaan, whither G-d had bidden him go — the L-rd testing Avram], and Avram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was sore in the land.

As he came near and was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, Behold, I now realize that you are a woman of beautiful appearance.

And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter to Miżrayim that he said to Saray his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon:

And it was, as he approached Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife: Behold, now [the time has come to worry about your beauty.] I have long known you to be a beautiful woman.

It will happen when the Egyptians see you that they will say: This is his wife. They will kill me and let you live.

therefore it shall come to pass, when the Miżrim shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.

And it will be, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say: "This is his wife!" and they will kill me and keep you alive.

Please [Now] say [therefore] that you are my sister, so that it will go well with me for your sake, and my life will be spared because of you [through your words].

Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee.

Say, now, that you are my sister, so that it be well for me for your sake [i.e., so that they give me gifts], and so that I remain alive because of you.

And it was when Avram was entering Egypt, that the Egyptians beheld the woman, because she was very beautiful.

And it came to pass, that, when Avram was come to Miżrayim, the Miżrim beheld the woman that she was very fair.

And it was, when Avram came to Egypt, [with Sarai hidden in a chest] that the Egyptians spied the woman and found her to be very beautiful.

Pharaoh’s officials saw her and praised her to Pharaoh. The woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.

The princes also of Par῾o saw her, and commended her before Par῾o: and the woman was taken into Par῾o’s house.

And the officers of Pharaoh saw her, and they praised her [among themselves] as being for Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.

He treated Avram well for her sake. He thus acquired sheep, oxen, donkeys, male and female slaves, female donkeys and camels.

And he treated Avram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.

And he [Pharaoh] benefitted Avram for her sake, and he had flocks and herds, and he-asses, and bondsmen and bondswomen, and she-asses and camels.

Adonoy afflicted Pharaoh with severe plagues [brought severe plagues upon Pharaoh], and also his household, because of Sarai, Avram’s wife.

And the Lord plagued Par῾o and his house with great plagues because of Saray, Avram’s wife.

And the L-rd plagued Pharaoh with great afflictions, as well as [the people of] his house, at the behest of Sarai, Avram's wife.

Pharaoh summoned Avram and said: What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife?

And Par῾o called Avram, and said, What is this that thou hast done to me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?

And Pharaoh called to Avram and he said: What is this that you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife?

Why did you say, She is my sister, so that I should take her to myself for a wife? Now here is your wife, take [her] and go.

Why didst thou say, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.

Why did you say "She is my sister," so that I took her for me as a wife? And now, here is your wife. Take her and go [out of Egypt (for the Egyptians are licentious)].

Pharaoh assigned men to him and they escorted him and his wife and all that was his.

And Par῾o commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

And Pharaoh appointed men for him [to guard him], and they escorted him and his wife and all that was his.
