Yoseif was brought down to Egypt. He was purchased by Potiphar—an officer of Pharaoh, the chief of the slaughterers, an Egyptian—from the Yishmaelites who had brought him down there.
And Yosef was brought down to Miżrayim; and Potifar, the chamberlain of Par῾o, captain of the guard, a Miżrian, bought him of the hands of the Yishme᾽elim, who had brought him down there.
And Joseph [before the aforementioned episode] had been brought down to Egypt. And he was bought [as a slave] by Potiphar, Pharaoh's officer, the head of the slaughterers, an Egyptian man, from the hand of the Ishmaelites, who had brought him down there.
Adonoy was with Yoseif, and he was successful. He was [a servant] in the house of his master, the Egyptian.
And the Lord was with Yosef, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Miżrian.
And the L rd was with Joseph, and he was a successful man, and he remained in the house of his lord, the Egyptian.
His master saw that Adonoy was with him, and that whatever he did, Adonoy made it succeed through his hand.
And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
And his master saw that the L rd was with him [(The name of the L rd was ever in his mouth)] and that whatever he did the L rd prospered in his hand.
Yoseif found favor in his eyes, and he served him personally. He appointed him supervisor over his household, and all that he possessed he placed in his hand.
And Yosef found favour in his sight, and served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
And Joseph found favor in his eyes, and he served him; and he appointed him over his house, and all that he had he placed in his hand.
From the time he appointed him supervisor over his household and over all that he possessed, Adonoy blessed the house of the Egyptian for Yoseif’s sake. The blessing of Adonoy was in all that he possessed, in the house and in the field.
And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Miżrian’s house for Yosef’s sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
And it was, from the time he appointed him over his household and over all that he had, that the L rd blessed the house of the Egyptian for the sake of Joseph; and the L rd's blessing was over all that he had, in the house and in the field.
He left everything he possessed in the hand of Yoseif. He did not concern himself with anything about him, except for the bread he ate. Yoseif was well-built and good looking.
And he left all that he had in Yosef’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Yosef was a good-looking person, and well favoured.
And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand, and he paid no heed to anything with him but "the bread that he ate" [i.e., his wife]. And Joseph was beautiful in form and appearance, [eating well, and primping and preening himself].
After these events, his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Yoseif, and she said, Be with me.
And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Yosef; and she said, Lie with me.
And it was [immediately] after these things that his master's wife lifted her eyes to Joseph and said: "Lie with me."
He refused and said to his master’s wife, Behold, my master knows nothing about what I am doing in the house, and all that he possess, he has placed in my hands.
But he refused, and said to his master’s wife, Behold, my master knows not what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand;
And he refused. And he said to his master's wife: Behold, my lord does not know what is with me in the house, and all that he has he has placed in my hand.
No one in this house is greater than me. He has not withheld anything from me other than you, for you are his wife. How can I do such a great evil, and sin against God.
there is none greater in this house than I; neither has he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
There is no one greater in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me but you, in that you are his wife. And how can I do this great evil and sin against G d? [illicit relations being forbidden to the Noachides].
Even though she spoke to Yoseif every day, he would not listen to her, to lie next to her, [nor] to be with her.
And it came to pass, as she spoke to Yosef day by day, that he hearkened not to her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
And it was, as she spoke to Joseph day after day, and he did not heed her to lie with her [even without intercourse] to be with her [(in Gehinnom) in the world to come],
It was on such a day, that he came to the house to do his work. No man of the household was there in the house.
And it came to pass about this time, that Yosef went into the house to do his work; and there was none of the men of the house there within.
it happened, on a certain [festival] day [when all had gone to the house of idolatry], when he came to the house to do his work, and none of the men of the household were there in the house,
She grabbed him by his garment, saying, Be with me. He left his garment in her hand, and fled, and he went outside.
And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and went outside.
that she grabbed him by his garment, saying: "Lie with me!" And he left his garment in her hand and he fled and ran outside.
It was when she saw that he left his garment in her hand and had fled outside,
And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled outside,
And it was, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand and had run outside,
that she called to the men of the household and said to them, See, he brought us a Hebrew man to mock us. He came to be with me, and I called out in a loud voice.
that she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, See, he has brought in a Hebrew to us to mock us; he came in to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:
that she called to the men of her house and said to them: See, he [i.e., her husband] brought to us an Ivri [from ever hanahar, the other side of the river (Euphrates), of the sons of Ever] to disport himself with us [i.e., me]. He came to me to lie with me and I made great outcry.
When he heard that I raised my voice and cried out, he left his garment with me, and fled and went outside.
and it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and went outside.
And it was, when he heard me lifting my voice and calling out, that he left his garment with me, and he fled and ran outside.
She laid his garment near her until his master came home.
And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.
And she left his garment with her until his lord came to his house.
She spoke to him [her husband] according to these words, saying, The Hebrew slave came to me—the same one you brought into us—[he came to] mock me.
And she spoke to him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, whom thou hast brought to us, came in to me to have his sport with me.
And she spoke to him such things, saying: The Ivri slave that you brought to us came to me to disport himself with me.
When I raised my voice and cried out, he left his garment with me and fled outside.
And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled outside.
And it was, when I raised my voice and called out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside.
When his master heard the words of his wife which she spoke to him, saying, Your slave did such things to me, he became furious.
And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his anger burned.
And it was, when his master heard [during intercourse] the words of his wife, who spoke to him, saying: Such [(intimate) things] did your slave do with me, that his wrath burned.
Yoseif’s master took him and placed him in the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were jailed. He remained there in the prison.
And Yosef’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
And Joseph's master took him and placed him in the prison house, the place where the king's prisoners were incarcerated; and he remained there in the prison house.
Adonoy was with Yoseif, and extended kindness to him, granting him favor in the eyes of the prison chief.
But the Lord was with Yosef, and showed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the officer of the prison.
And the L rd was with Joseph, and He conferred grace upon him, and He granted him favor in the eyes of the overseer of the prison house.
The prison chief gave Yoseif control over all the prisoners in the prison, and everything that had to be done there, he was the one who did it.
And the officer of the prison committed to Yosef’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatever they did there, he was the doer of it.
And the overseer of the prison house placed all of the prisoners in the prison house in Joseph's charge; and all that was done there was done at his bidding.
אֵ֣ין**׀** שַׂ֣ר בֵּית־הַסֹּ֗הַר רֹאֶ֤ה אֶֽת־כׇּל־מְא֙וּמָה֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ בַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יְהֹוָ֖ה אִתּ֑וֹ וַֽאֲשֶׁר־ה֥וּא עֹשֶׂ֖ה יְהֹוָ֥ה מַצְלִֽיחַ׃{פ}
The prison chief did not have to look after anything that was under his hand, because Adonoy was with him and whatever he did, Adonoy made him succeed.
The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand; because the Lord was with him, and that which he did, the Lord made it prosper.
The overseer of the prison house looked after nothing in his hand in that the L rd was with him, and whatever he did, the L rd prospered.
