Yeĥizqiyyahu began to reign when he was twenty five years old, and he reigned twenty nine years in Yerushalayim. And his mother’s name was Aviyya, the daughter of Zekharyahu.
Yechizkiyahu [began] to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Aviyah the daughter of Zecharyahu.
And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that David his father had done.
And he did what was just in the eyes of the L rd, as all that his father David had done.
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the Lord, and repaired them.
He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the L rd and strengthened them.
And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
And he brought the priests and the Levites and he gathered them into the eastern square.
and he said to them, Hear me, you Levites, sanctify yourselves now, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the filth from the holy place.
And he said to them: Hear me, Levites: Now, cleanse yourselves and cleanse the house of the L rd, the G d of your fathers, and remove the "menstruant" [i.e., idolatry] from the sanctuary.
For our fathers trespassed, and did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord our God, and forsook him, and turned away their faces from the habitation of the Lord, and turned their backs.
For our fathers were faithless, and they did what was evil in the eyes of the L rd our G d, and they forsook Him, and they turned their faces from the sanctuary of the L rd, and "gave their napes" (to it).
Also they shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and did not burn incense or offer burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Yisra᾽el.
They also closed the doors of the Ulam and put out the lamps and did not burn incense and did not sacrifice burnt-offerings in the sanctuary to the G d of Israel.
So that the fury of the Lord came upon Yehuda and Yerushalayim, and he delivered them to horror, to astonishment, and to hissing, as you see with your eyes.
And the L rd was wroth with Judah and Jerusalem, and He rendered them (a) horror, (a) desolation, and (a) whistling [(in astonishment)], as you see with your own eyes.
For lo, our fathers fell by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.
And, behold, our fathers have fallen by the sword; and our sons, our daughters, and our wives are in captivity for this.
Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord God of Yisra᾽el, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
Now, it is in my heart to make a covenant with the L rd, the G d of Israel, so that His wrath turn from us.
בָּנַ֕י עַתָּ֖ה אַל־תִּשָּׁל֑וּ כִּֽי־בָכֶ֞ם בָּחַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֗ה לַעֲמֹ֤ד לְפָנָיו֙ לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וְלִהְי֥וֹת ל֖וֹ מְשָׁרְתִ֥ים וּמַקְטִרִֽים׃{פ}
My sons, be not now negligent: for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that you should minister to him, and burn incense.
My sons, do not forget now that the L rd chose you to stand before Him to serve Him, and to minister and burn incense unto Him.
Then the Levites arose, Maĥat the son of ῾Amasay, and Yo᾽el the son of ῾Azaryahu, of the sons of the Qehati: and of the sons of Merari, Qish the son of ῾Avdi, and ῾Azaryahu the son of Yehallel᾽el: and of the Gershoni; Yo᾽aĥ the son of Zimma, and ῾Eden the son of Yo᾽aĥ:
And the Levites arose: Machath the son of Amassai and Yoel the son of Azaryahu of the sons of the Kehothites; and, of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Avdi and Azaryahu the son of Yehalelel; and, of the Gershonites, Yoach the son of Zimah and Eden the son of Zoach.
וּמִן־בְּנֵי֙ אֱלִ֣יצָפָ֔ן שִׁמְרִ֖י (ויעואל) [וִיעִיאֵ֑ל] וּמִן־בְּנֵ֣י אָסָ֔ף זְכַרְיָ֖הוּ וּמַתַּנְיָֽהוּ׃{ס}
and of the sons of Eliżafan; Shimri, and Ye῾i᾽el: and of the sons of Asaf; Zekharyahu, and Mattanyahu:
And of the sons of Elitzafan, Shimri and Yeiel; and, of the sons of Asaph, Zecharyahu and Matanyahu.
And of the sons of Heman; Yeĥi᾽el, and Shim῾i: and of the sons of Yedutun; Shema῾ya, and ῾Uzzi᾽el.
And of the sons of Heiman, Yechiel and Shim'i; and, of the sons of Yeduthun, Shemayah and Uziel.
And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the Lord, to cleanse the house of the Lord.
And they gathered their brethren and they cleansed themselves. And they came, as commanded by the king in what appertained to the [service of] the L rd, to purify the house of the L rd.
And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the Lord, to cleanse it, and they brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the Lord into the court of the house of the Lord. And the Levites took it, to carry it outside into the wadi of Qidron.
And the priests came into the interior of the house of the L rd [i.e., the sanctuary] to purify (it). And they removed the uncleanliness that they found in the sanctuary of the L rd to the court of the house of the L rd [(where the Levites were)]. And the Levites received (it) to take it outside to the Kidron Valley.
וַ֠יָּחֵ֠לּוּ בְּאֶחָ֞ד לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁוֹן֮ לְקַדֵּשׁ֒ וּבְי֧וֹם שְׁמוֹנָ֣ה לַחֹ֗דֶשׁ בָּ֚אוּ לְאוּלָ֣ם יְהֹוָ֔ה וַיְקַדְּשׁ֥וּ אֶת־בֵּית־יְהֹוָ֖ה לְיָמִ֣ים שְׁמוֹנָ֑ה וּבְי֨וֹם שִׁשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֛ר לַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֖וֹן כִּלּֽוּ׃{ס}
Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of the Lord: so they sanctified the house of the Lord in eight days; and on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.
And they began to cleanse [the sanctuary] on the first (day) of the first month, and on the eighth day they came to the Ulam of the L rd. And they cleansed the house of the L rd for [an additional] eight days. And on the sixteenth day of the first month they finished.
Then they went in to Ḥizqiyyahu the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the Lord, and the altar of burnt offering, with all its vessels, and the showbread table, with all its vessels.
And they came inside to King Chizkiyahu and they said: We have purified the entire house of the L rd and the burnt-offering altar and all its vessels and the showbread table and all its vessels.
וְאֵ֣ת כׇּל־הַכֵּלִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר הִזְנִ֩יחַ֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ אָחָ֧ז בְּמַלְכוּת֛וֹ בְּמַעֲל֖וֹ הֵכַ֣נּוּ וְהִקְדָּ֑שְׁנוּ וְהִנָּ֕ם לִפְנֵ֖י מִזְבַּ֥ח יְהֹוָֽה׃{ס}
Moreover all the vessels, which king Aĥaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, we have prepared and sanctified, and behold, they are before the altar of the Lord.
And all the vessels which King Achaz forsook during his reign in his faithlessness, we have readied and cleansed, and, behold, they are before the altar of the L rd.
Then Yeĥizqiyyahu the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the Lord.
And King Chizkiyahu rose early and gathered the officers of the city and went up to the house of the L rd.
And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Yehuda. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aharon to offer them on the altar of the Lord.
And they brought seven bulls and seven rams and seven lambs [for burnt-offerings] and seven kids for sin-offerings: for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he charged the sons of Aaron, the priests, to sacrifice (them) on the altar of the L rd.
So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: and they slaughtered the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
And they slaughtered the cattle [i.e., the bulls], and the priests received the blood, and they sprinkled (it) on the altar. And they slaughtered the rams, and they sprinkled the blood on the altar. And they slaughtered the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood on the altar.
And they presented the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
And they presented the kids of the sin-offering before the king and the congregation, and they placed their hands upon them.
and the priests killed them, and they made a sin offering with their blood upon the altar, to make atonement for all Yisra᾽el: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Yisra᾽el.
And the priests slaughtered them, and they applied their blood on the [four corners of the] altar to atone for all of Israel. For on behalf of all of Israel did the king command to bring the burnt-offerings and the sin-offerings.
And he set the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, with lutes, and with lyres, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Natan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the Lord by his prophets.
And he stood the Levites in the house of the L rd with cymbals, with psalteries and with harps as commanded by David and Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet. For from the L rd was the commandment, through His prophets.
וַיַּעַמְד֤וּ הַלְוִיִּם֙ בִּכְלֵ֣י דָוִ֔יד וְהַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים בַּחֲצֹצְרֽוֹת׃{פ}
And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
And the Levites stood with David's instruments, and the priests, with trumpets.
And Ḥizqiyyahu commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments of David king of Yisra᾽el.
And Chizkiyahu ordered that the burnt-offering be brought up on the altar. And when the [sacrifice of] the burnt-offering began, the song of the L rd began — and the trumpets — accompanied by the instruments of David, king of Israel.
And all the congregation prostrated themselves, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.
And all the congregation prostrated themselves, and the song was sung and the trumpets sounded — all until the end [of the sacrifice] of the burnt-offering.
And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all who were present with him bowed down, and prostrated themselves.
And when the sacrifice had ended, the king and all those with him knelt, and they prostrated themselves.
וַ֠יֹּ֠אמֶר יְחִזְקִיָּ֨הוּ הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם לְהַלֵּל֙ לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה בְּדִבְרֵ֥י דָוִ֖יד וְאָסָ֣ף הַחֹזֶ֑ה וַֽיְהַלְלוּ֙ עַד־לְשִׂמְחָ֔ה וַֽיִּקְּד֖וּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃{פ}
Moreover Yeĥizqiyyahu the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise to the Lord with the words of David, and of Asaf the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.
And King Yechizkiyahu and the officers asked the Levites to praise the L rd with the words of David and Asaph the seer. And they praised until [they were filled with] joy, and they bowed down and prostrated themselves.
Then Yeĥizqiyyahu answered and said, Now you have consecrated yourselves to the Lord, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the Lord. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and all who were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings.
And Yechizkiyahu proclaimed: Now, you have invested yourselves in [the service of] the L rd. Come forward and bring peace-offerings and thank-offerings to the house of the L rd. And the congregation brought peace-offerings and thank-offerings, and all the generous of heart, burnt-offerings [(which are completely burnt, no part of it being eaten by the donor)].
And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was seventy bullocks, a hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the Lord.
And the number of burnt-offerings brought by the congregation: cattle, seventy; rams, one hundred; lambs, two hundred — all of these, burnt-offerings to the L rd.
And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
And the [other] sacred offerings [(peace-offerings and thank-offerings)]: cattle, six hundred; and sheep, three thousand.
But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: so that their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart than the priests in sanctifying themselves.
But the priests were few, and they could not flay all of the burnt-offerings [by themselves], and their brethren, the Levites, strengthened them, until the work [(of flaying)] was completed and until the priests [i.e., until more priests] cleansed themselves [(for the sacred service)]. For the Levites were just of heart [(and therefore)] more expeditious [(to cleanse themselves)] than the priests.
And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the Lord was firmly established.
And [(the Levites were, indeed, sorely needed)], for there was an abundance of burnt-offerings, and the fats of the peace-offerings, and the libations for the burnt-offerings; and the service of the house of the L rd [(with the help of the Levites)] was consummated.
וַיִּשְׂמַ֤ח יְחִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙ וְכׇל־הָעָ֔ם עַ֛ל הַהֵכִ֥ין הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים לָעָ֑ם כִּ֥י בְּפִתְאֹ֖ם הָיָ֥ה הַדָּבָֽר׃{פ}
And Yeĥizqiyyahu rejoiced, and all the people, because of what God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
And Yechizkiyahu and all the people rejoiced over G d's having girded the people, for the [whole] thing had happened of a sudden.
