And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Emori, who were on the side of the Yarden westward, and all the kings of the Kena῾ani, who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Yarden from before the children of Yisra᾽el, until they were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Yisra᾽el.

At that time the Lord said to Yehoshua, Make flint knives, and circumcise again the children of Yisra᾽el the second time.

And Yehoshua made flint knives, and circumcised the children of Yisra᾽el at the hill of ῾Aralot.

And this is the cause why Yehoshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Miżrayim, that were males, all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Miżrayim.

Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came out of Miżrayim, them they had not circumcised.

For the children of Yisra᾽el walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, who came out of Miżrayim, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: to whom the Lord swore that he would not show them the land, which the Lord swore to their fathers that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Yehoshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the road.

And it came to pass, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were recovered.

And the Lord said to Yehoshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Miż­rayim from off you. So he called the name of the place Gilgal to this day.

And the children of Yisra᾽el encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Yeriĥo.

And they did eat of the corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn, that very day.

And the manna ceased on the morrow when they ate of the corn of the land; neither had the children of Yisra᾽el manna any more; but they did eat of the produce of the land of Kena῾an that year.

And it came to pass, when Yehoshua was by Yeriĥo, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, a man stood over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Yehoshua went over to him, and said to him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

And he said, No: but I am captain of the host of the Lord, I am now come. And Yehoshua fell on his face to the earth, and bowed down, and said to him, What says my lord to his servant?

And the captain of the Lord’s host said to Yehoshua, Put off thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place on which thou standest is holy. And Yehoshua did so.
