The infinitive with the letter ל that is connected to a verb teaches a diminution and a boundary: לא תלמד לעשות (you shall not learn to do)²⁶⁷ – but you may learn to teach. And moreover, it will come to limit the first verb: כי תחל לזנות (if she profanes herself by playing the harlot)²⁶⁸, do not interpret it to mean that she profanes herself with any profanity other than harlotry.
