אולם אם נמצאו בכתוב שני דברים שהאחד מיותר, כי נשמע מכלל חברו בק"ו, רק שבא ללמד פירושו של חברו – אז יבוא השם המלמד באחרונה, הגם שהראשון יש בו חידוש יותר, ואז ידבר בדרך זו ואין צורך לומר זו.
However, if two words are found in the Scripture where one is superfluous since it is implied from its associate a fortiori and it only comes to teach the meaning of its associate – then the noun that teaches will come at the end, even though the first noun is more of a novelty, and so it will speak as זו ואין צורך לומר זו (this and it is unnecessary to say this).
כמו "תושב ושכיר", שבא שכיר ללמד על תושב. וכן "אל הקדש פנימה", "אל הקדש מבית לפרוכת". (שמיני ס' נו, אחרי ס' ז, אמור ס' פט)
Like תושב ושכיר (a sojourner and a hired servant)⁴⁶⁰, in which the שכיר comes to teach about the תושב. And moreover, אל הקדש פנימה (into the sanctuary within)⁴⁶¹, אל הקדש מבית לפרוכת (into the holy place within the veil)⁴⁶².
