יש הבדל בין קריעה לפרימה. שקריעה כולל בכל מקום ובכל אופן שיקרע, והפרימה היא הקריעה במקום השפה שקורע את האימרא (שמיני ס' ל).

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

There is a difference between קריעה (tearing) and פרימה (unraveling): קריעה includes any place and any manner in which one tears, while פרימה is a tearing of the edge, that one tears the fringe.

ובכל זאת, במקום שנזכר שם הפעול או מלת "אותו" [כמו "ויקרע את בגדיו", "וקרע אותו"] הוא קריעה גמורה (תזריע ס' קעד. אמור ס' כז)

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

And nevertheless, in a place where the direct object or the wordאותו (it) is mentioned (like ויקרע את בגדיו - and he tore his clothes, וקרע אותו - and he tore it), it is a complete tearing.

ויש הבדל בשמות הבאים על הקריעה והכריתה, בין אם באו סתם – שאז יכוין על קריעת וכריתת העצם, ובין אם בא אחריו שימוש המ"ם – "וקרע מן" – שפירושו שיקרענו ויחתכנו מדבר שהוא מחובר בו (תזריע ס' קעד. אמור ס' כז)

Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021

And there is a distinction between nouns that come with tearing and uprooting, whether they come alone (then its intended meaning is tearing and uprooting the object) or whether the prefix מ comes afterwards - וקרע מן (and tore from) – then it means that one tears and uproots the object from something that is attached to it.
