יש הבדל בפעל יכח בין אם בא אחריו שימוש הלמ"ד או מלת "עם" או מלת "את".
There is a difference between the verb יכח (rebuke) if it comes with the prefix letter ל or the word עם (with), or the word את afterwards:
"יכח לפלוני" או "יכח עם פלוני" הוא ויכוח על פי דרכי השכל; ו"יכח עם פלוני" – שניהם מתוכחים יחד ומחליפים דבריהם זה עם זה.
יכח לפלוני and יכח עם פלוני are rebuke through reason. And יכח עם פלוני – both of them argue together and exchange their words with one another.
אבל "יכח את" הוא קרוב לענין מוסר, שמוכיחו על חטא פרטי שעשה (קדושים סימן מג)
But יכח את is close to the theme of מוסר (rebuke), that he rebukes him about a particular sin that he made.
