The Maggid then states, “If God had brought judgment upon the Egyptians but not upon their god’s, it would have been enough for us,” ²⁴² to show us that the gods of the other nations are not real and (their gods) did not have the power to save them. That is why Israel believed in God and removed the other gods of Egypt from among them. In addition to the judgments against the Egyptians, God also passed judgment on their gods and the materials from which they were made. Those that were made of wood rotted, of stone were broken, etc, in order to distance Israel from idolatry.
