Adonoy said to Aharon: “You, your sons, and your father’s house with you will bear the sin of the Sanctuary, and you, and your sons with you will bear the sin of your kehunah.
And the Lord said to Aharon, Thou and thy sons and thy father’s house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.
And the L-rd said [to Moses to say] to Aaron [to exhort him to prevent non-priests from entering the sanctuary]: You and your sons and the house of your father [the children of Kehath, the father of Amram] with you shall bear the sin of the sanctuary [i.e., you will be held responsible for non-priests' sinning with the consecrated things that I have placed in your charge — the tent (of meeting), the ark, the table and the holy vessels. You must keep watch and warn them.] And you and your sons [the Cohanim] with you shall bear the sin of your priesthood, [which is not relegated to the Levites; you must keep them from inadvertently encroaching upon your service.]
Also, your brothers, the tribe of Levi—the tribe of your father—bring to you, and they shall join you, and serve you, you and your sons with you, before the Tent of Testimony.
And thy brethren also of the tribe of Levi, the tribe of thy father, bring thou near with thee, that they may be joined to thee, and minister to thee: but thou and thy sons with thee shall minister before the tent of the Testimony.
And also your brothers [the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari], the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, draw near with you, and let them be joined to you [to warn also strangers against coming too close to them], and they shall serve you [by guarding the gates and by serving as (Temple) treasurers and trustees], and you and your sons with you, before the tent of Testimony.
They shall guard their duties to you and all the duties of the Tent, but to the holy furniture or to the Altar they must not approach, that neither they, nor you, shall die.
And they shall keep thy charge, and the charge of all the tent: only they shall not come near the vessels of the sanctuary and the altar, that neither they, nor you, die.
And they shall keep your charge and the charge of all the tent. But to the vessels of the sanctuary and to the altar they shall not come near, so that they not die, both they and you.
They shall join you and guard the duties of the Tent of Meeting—all the service of the Tent, but a commoner, [a non-kohein] should not approach you.
And they shall be joined to thee, and keep the charge of the Tent of Meeting, for all the service of the tent, and a stranger shall not come near to you.
And they will join you and they will keep the charge of the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, and a stranger shall not draw near to you [(the Cohanim are being exhorted to this end)].
You shall discharge the sacred duties and the duties of the Altar, so that there will be no more wrath on Bnei Yisroel.
And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary, and the charge of the altar: that there be no wrath any more upon the children of Yisra᾽el.
And you shall keep the charge of the sanctuary and the charge of the altar, so that there no more be wrath [(as in 17:11)] against the children of Israel.
Behold, I have brought your brothers the Levites from among Bnei Yisroel, given to you as a gift—for Adonoy—to perform the work of the Tent of Meeting.
And I, behold, I have taken your brethren the Levites from among the children of Yisra᾽el: to you they are given as a gift for the Lord, to do the service of the Tent of Meeting.
And I, behold, I have taken your brothers, the Levites, from the midst of the children of Israel, for you as a gift, given to the L-rd [i.e., they are not given to you for your private ends, but for the guarding of the gates, etc. (see 2)], to perform the service of the tent of meeting.
וְאַתָּ֣ה וּבָנֶ֣יךָ אִ֠תְּךָ֠ תִּשְׁמְר֨וּ אֶת־כְּהֻנַּתְכֶ֜ם לְכׇל־דְּבַ֧ר הַמִּזְבֵּ֛חַ וּלְמִבֵּ֥ית לַפָּרֹ֖כֶת וַעֲבַדְתֶּ֑ם עֲבֹדַ֣ת מַתָּנָ֗ה אֶתֵּן֙ אֶת־כְּהֻנַּתְכֶ֔ם וְהַזָּ֥ר הַקָּרֵ֖ב יוּמָֽת׃{פ}
You and your sons with you shall guard your kehunah [duties] regarding the Altar and all that is within the Curtain—you shall serve—the service, as a gift, I give the kehunah to you, and the commoner who approaches shall be killed.”
Therefore thou and thy sons with thee shall keep your priest’s office for everything that concerns the altar, and within the veil: and you shall serve: I have given your priest’s office to you as a service of gift: and the stranger that comes near shall be put to death.
And you and your sons with you shall guard your priesthood for every thing of the altar and within the parocheth, and you shall serve. I have given your priesthood [to you] as a service of gift, and the stranger that draws near shall be put to death.
Adonoy spoke to Aharon: “Behold I have given you the guarding of my terumah-gifts, and all the hallowed things of Bnei Yisroel, to you and your children I give them for consecration, as a portion forever.
And the Lord spoke to Aharon, Behold, I also have given thee the charge of my heave offerings of all the hallowed things of the children of Yisra᾽el; unto thee have I given them by reason of the anointing, and to thy sons, by an ordinance for ever.
And the L-rd spoke to Aaron: And I, behold, I have given to you [with joy the twenty-four priestly gifts, to confirm your title to the priesthood against any claims (such as that of Korach)] the keeping of My terumoth (gifts) [You must "keep" (i.e., preserve) them in cleanliness]. From all the hallowed things of the children of Israel, to you have I given them for greatness, and to your children, as an everlasting statute.
This is yours from the most holy from the fire, [of] all their sacrifices—their minchah-offerings, their sin-offerings and their guilt-offerings which they return to Me shall be most holy to you and your sons.
This shall be thine of the most holy things, reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, every meal offering of theirs, and every sin offering of theirs, and every guilt offering of theirs, which they shall render to me, shall be most holy for thee and for thy sons.
This shall be for you from the holy of holies from the fire [i.e., after the burning of the devoted portions]: all of their offerings [(such as communal peace-offerings)], and all of their meal-offerings, and all of their sin-offerings, and all of their guilt-offerings, which they shall return to Me [i.e., the theft of a proselyte (see 5:8)]: it is holy of holies to you and to your sons.

You shall eat it in the supremely holy (place), every male may eat it—it shall be holy to you.
In the most holy place shalt thou eat it; every male shall eat it: it shall be holy to thee.
In the holy of holies [the azarah (the place where "holy of holies" are eaten)] shall you eat it. Every male [i.e., only a male] shall eat it; holy shall it be to you.

Their terumah-gift is yours, of all of the wave-offerings of Bnei Yisroel I give to you and to your sons and daughters that are with you as an everlasting portion; all those ritually pure in your house may eat it.
And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, for all the wave offerings of the children of Yisra᾽el: I have given them to thee, and to thy sons and to thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.
And this is for you: the terumah of their gift [-offerings, i.e., what is set apart from the thanksgiving offering, the peace-offerings, and the ram of the Nazirite.] From all the wave-offerings of the children of Israel, to you have I given them, and to your sons and to your daughters with you, as an everlasting statute. Every clean one in your house shall eat it.

The best of the oil, and the best of the wine and grain—their terumah-gift that they present to Adonoy—I have given to you.
All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, the first of them which they shall offer to the Lord, them have I given thee.
All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat; the first of them [terumah gedolah] which they shall give to the L-rd, to you have I given them.
The first fruits of all that is in their land, which they bring before Adonoy, shall be yours; all those ritually pure in your house may eat it.
The first ripe fruit of all that is in the land, which they shall bring to the Lord, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thy house shall eat of it.
The first-fruits of all that is in their land, that they bring to the L-rd, for you shall it be. Every clean one of your household shall eat it.
Everything consecrated in Israel shall be yours.
Everything devoted in Yisra᾽el shall be thine.
Every devoted thing in Israel shall be yours.

Every firstling of every being which they offer before Adonoy—man or beast—shall be yours; but you must redeem the firstborn of man and redeem the firstborn of unclean beasts.
Everything that opens the womb in all flesh, which they bring to the Lord, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the firstborn of man shalt thou surely redeem, and the firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou redeem.
All that opens the womb of all flesh that they offer to the L-rd, in man and in beast, shall be yours; but redeem shall you redeem the first-born of the man, and the first-born of the unclean beast shall you redeem.

Its redemption—from a month old you should redeem them—the valuation is five silver sela’im of holy silver shekalim which is twenty gerah.
And those that are to be redeemed shall be redeemable from a month old according to the usual estimation, for the money of five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, which is twenty gera.
And his redemption, from one month shall you redeem, according to the monetary valuation, five shekalim in the shekel of the sanctuary; it is twenty gerah.

However, a firstborn ox, a firstborn sheep or firstborn goat do not redeem because they are holy; sprinkle their blood on the altar and burn their fats as a fire-offering as a pleasing fragrance to Adonoy.
But the firstling of an ox, or the firstling of a sheep, or the firstling of a goat, thou shalt not redeem; they are holy: thou shalt sprinkle their blood upon the altar, and shalt burn their fat for an offering made by fire, for a sweet savour to the Lord.
But the first-born of an ox, or the first-born of a sheep, or the first-born of a goat, you shall not redeem. They are consecrated. Their blood shall you sprinkle upon the altar, and their fats shall you smoke, a fire-offering as a sweet savor to the L-rd.

Their flesh is yours; like the breast which is waved and like the right thigh—it shall be yours.
And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave breast and as the right shoulder shall they be thine.
And their flesh shall be for you; as the wave-breast and the right shoulder [of peace-offerings, which may be eaten for two days and one night] shall they be for you.

All of the sacred terumah-gifts that Bnei Yisroel offer to Adonoy, I have given to you, your sons and daughters with you as an everlasting portion; an eternal covenant of salt before Adonoy to you and your children that are with you.”
All the heave offerings of the holy things, which the children of Yisra᾽el offer to the Lord, have I given thee, and thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the Lord to thee and to thy seed with thee.
All the terumoth of the holy things, which the children of Israel will separate for the L-rd, have I given to you and to your sons and to your daughters with you as an everlasting statute. It is a covenant of salt [(i.e., like salt, which never spoils)] forever before the L-rd, for you and for your seed with you. [The L-rd made a covenant with Aaron by something (salt) which is itself wholesome and lasting and which preserves other things.]
וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֜ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן בְּאַרְצָם֙ לֹ֣א תִנְחָ֔ל וְחֵ֕לֶק לֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה לְךָ֖ בְּתוֹכָ֑ם אֲנִ֤י חֶלְקְךָ֙ וְנַחֲלָ֣תְךָ֔ בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃{ס}
Adonoy said to Aharon: “You will have no inheritance in their land, and you will not have a share among them; I am your inheritance and portion among Bnei Yisroel.
And the Lord spoke to Aharon, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy portion and thy inheritance among the children of Yisra᾽el.
And the L-rd said to Aaron: In their land you will not inherit, and you will not have a portion [of even the spoils] in their midst. I am your portion and your inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel.
Behold, I have given to the sons of Levi all the tithes in Israel for an inheritance in return for their service which they perform—the service of the Tent of Meeting.
And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Yisra᾽el for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the Tent of Meeting.
And to the sons of Levi, behold, I have given every tithe in Israel as an inheritance in exchange for the service which they perform, the service of the tent of meeting.
Bnei Yisroel shall no longer approach the Tent of Meeting, to become guilty and die.
Neither must the children of Yisra᾽el henceforth come near the Tent of Meeting, lest they bear sin, and die.
And the children of Israel shall no more draw near to the tent of meeting, to bear sin, to die.
The Levi[tes]—[they] shall perform the service of the Tent of Meeting and they will bear their guilt; it is an everlasting decree—throughout your generations—among Bnei Yisroel they (the Levites) shall have no inheritance.
But the Levites shall do the service of the Tent of Meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Yisra᾽el they have no inheritance.
And the Levite shall perform — he — the service of the tent of meeting, and they [the Levites] shall bear their [the Israelites'] sin [if they draw near to the tent of meeting (for the Levites must ward them off)], an everlasting statute for your generations. And in the midst of the children of Israel, they shall not inherit an inheritance.
כִּ֞י אֶת־מַעְשַׂ֣ר בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרִ֤ימוּ לַֽיהֹוָה֙ תְּרוּמָ֔ה נָתַ֥תִּי לַלְוִיִּ֖ם לְנַחֲלָ֑ה עַל־כֵּן֙ אָמַ֣רְתִּי לָהֶ֔ם בְּתוֹךְ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לֹ֥א יִנְחֲל֖וּ נַחֲלָֽה׃{פ}
For the tithe of Bnei Yisroel which they must set aside to Adonoy as a terumah-gift I gave to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore, I told them: ‘among Bnei Yisroel they shall have no inheritance.’”
But the tithes of the children of Yisra᾽el, which they offer as a gift to the Lord, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said to them, Among the children of Yisra᾽el they shall have no inheritance.
For the tithe of the children of Israel which they set apart for the L-rd as a terumah [(It is called "terumah" until he (the Levite) separates terumath ma'aser from it)] have I given to the Levites as an inheritance. Therefore, I have said to them that in the midst of the children of Israel they shall not inherit an inheritance.
Adonoy spoke to Moshe, saying:
And the Lord spoke to Moshe, saying,
And the L-rd spoke to Moses, saying:
“Speak to the Levites and say to them: ‘When you take the tithe from Bnei Yisroel, which I gave you from them for your inheritance, set aside from it the terumah-gift of Adonoy, a tithe of the tithe.
Thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When you take of the children of Yisra᾽el the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then you shall offer up from it a gift for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.
And to the Levites shall you speak, and you shall say to them: When you take from the children of Israel the tithe (ma'aser) that I have given to you from them as your inheritance, then you shall separate from it the terumah of the L-rd, ma'aser from the ma'aser.
Your terumah-gift will be considered the same as grain from the granary and [wine and oil of] fully ripened fruit from the cistern.
And this your gift shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress.
And your terumah will be accounted for you as corn from the threshing floor [i.e., your terumath ma'aser is forbidden to non-priests and to unclean priests and makes them liable to the death penalty and to the additional fifth, just as does terumah gedolah (which is referred to as "the first of corn from the threshing floor")] and as the fullness [i.e., ripeness (of produce)] of the pit [i.e., and just as does the terumah of wine and oil which is taken from the pit before the press.]
So must you, too, set aside the terumah-gift of Adonoy from all your tithes which you take from Bnei Yisroel; give from them the terumah-gift of Adonoy to Aharon the kohein.
Thus you also shall offer a gift to the Lord of all your tithes, which you receive of the children of Yisra᾽el; and you shall give of it the Lord’s gift to Aharon the priest.
Thus shall you, too, [just as the Israelites give terumah from their threshing floors and their pits], separate the terumah of the L-rd from all of your tithes [(your inheritance)] that you take from the children of Israel; and you shall give of it the terumah of the L-rd to Aaron the Cohein.
From all your gifts you must set aside all of the terumah-gifts of Adonoy; from each thing—its finest part—the part that is to be consecrated.’
Out of all that is given to you, you shall set aside all that is due as a gift to the Lord, of all the best thereof, even the hallowed part of it.
From all of your gifts shall you separate all the terumah of the L-rd [(If the Levite received his ma'aser before the Cohein received his terumah from the heap, he must first separate that terumah (gedolah), then terumath ma'aser, and give both to the Cohein)]; from all of its best (shall you separate) its hallowed part from it.
Say to them: ‘When you set aside the finest part of it, it will be considered for the Levites like the produce of the granary and the produce of the cistern.
Therefore thou shalt say to them, When you have set aside the best of it, then it shall be counted to the Levites as the increase of the threshingfloor, and as the increase of the winepress.
And you (Moses) shall say to them (the Levites): When you separate [as terumath ma'aser] its best part of it, then it [the remaining produce] shall be reckoned [as permitted] to the Levites, just as produce of the threshing floor and produce of the pit [is permitted to the Israelites (after they have tithed it)].
