Adonoy spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, saying;

And the Lord spoke to Moshe and to Aharon, saying,

And the L-rd spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying:

Each man at his own banner, with the insignia of their fathers’ houses shall Bnei Yisroel encamp, at a distance around the Tent of Meeting they shall encamp.

Every man of the children of Yisra᾽el shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensigns of their father’s house: far off about the Tent of Meeting shall they pitch.

Every man by his standard, with signs according to their fathers' house shall the children of Israel camp. [(On each standard there were colored cloths corresponding to the respective colors of the stones of the tribes on the choshen, by which every man could identify his standard)]. Opposite, [the distance of a mil (two thousand cubits, the permitted Sabbath distance — see Joshua 3:4), so that they could come (there) on Sabbath, Moses, Aaron and his sons, and the Levites encamping nearby], roundabout the tent of meeting shall they camp.

Those whose camp is in the forefront, on the eastern side is the camp of the banner of Yehudah according to their divisions, and the leader of the sons of Yehudah is Nachshon the son of Aminadav.

And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Yehuda pitch by their hosts: and Naĥshon the son of ῾Amminadav shall be captain of the children of Yehuda.

And those who encamped in front, in the east — the standard of the camp of Yehudah according to their hosts. And the chief of the children of Yehudah, Nachshon ben Aminadav.

Its division and their numbers is seventy-four thousand six hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were seventy four thousand, six hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, seventy-four thousand and six hundred.

Those who camp along with him are; the tribe of Yissachar, and the leader of the sons of Yissachar is Nesanel the son of Tzu’ar.

And those that pitch next to him shall be the tribe of Yissakhar: and Netan᾽el the son of Żu῾ar shall be captain of the children of Yissakhar.

And encamped next to him, the tribe of Yissachar; and the chief of the children of Yissachar, Nethanel ben Tzuar.

Its division and its numbers is fifty-four thousand four hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty four thousand, four hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, fifty-four thousand and four hundred.

The tribe of Zevulun, and the leader of the sons of Zevulun is Eliav the son of Cheilon.

Then the tribe of Zevulun: and Eli᾽av the son of Ḥelon shall be captain of the children of Zevulun.

The tribe of Zevulun; and the chief of the children of Zevulun, Eliyav ben Cheilon.

Its division and its numbers is fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of it, were fifty seven thousand, four hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.

The total numbers for the encampment of Yehudah is one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred according to their divisions, [and] they travel [in the] first [position].

All that were numbered in the camp of Yehuda were a hundred and eighty six thousand, four hundred, by their hosts. These shall first set forth.

All of the numbered of the camp of Yehudah — one hundred and eighty-six thousand and four hundred, according to their hosts; first shall they travel. [When they saw the cloud departing, the Cohanim sounded the trumpets, and the camp of Yehudah traveled first. (And they traveled in the order of their encampment: the Levites and the wagons in the center, the standard of Yehudah on the east; that of Reuven, on the south; that of Ephraim, on the west; that of Dan, on the north.)]

The banner of the camp of Reuven is on the south side, according to their divisions, and the leader of the sons of Reuven is Elitzur the son of Shdeiur.

On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Re᾽uven by their hosts: and the captain of the children of Re᾽uven shall be Eliżur the son of Shede᾽ur.

The standard of the camp of Reuven, on the south, according to their hosts; and the chief of the children of Reuven, Elitzur ben Shedeur.

Its divisions and its numbers is forty-six thousand five hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of it, were forty six thousand, five hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, forty-six thousand and five hundred.

Those who camp along with him are; the tribe of Shimon, and the leader of the tribe of Shimon is Shlumiel the son of Tzurishadai.

And those who pitch by him shall be the tribe of Shim῾on: and the captain of the children of Shim῾on shall be Shelumi᾽el the son of Żurishadday.

And encamped next to him, the tribe of Shimon; and the chief of the children of Shimon, Shlumiel ben Tzurishadai.

Its division and their numbers is fifty-nine thousand three hundred;

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty nine thousand, three hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.

The tribe of Gad, and the leader of the sons of Gad is Elyasaf the son of Re’uel.

Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Elyasaf the son of Re῾u᾽el.

And the tribe of Gad; and the chief of the children of Gad, Elyasaf ben Re'uel.

Its division and their numbers is forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty five thousand, six hundred and fifty.

And his host and their numbered ones, forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

The total numbers for the encampment of Reuven is one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred and fifty, according to their division, and they travel [in the] second [position].

All that were numbered in the camp of Re᾽uven were a hundred and fifty one thousand, four hundred and fifty, by their hosts. And they shall set forth in the second rank.

All of the numbered of the camp of Reuven, one hundred and fifty-one thousand and four hundred and fifty, according to their hosts; and they shall travel second.

The Tent of Meeting shall travel [along with] the camp of the Levites in the center of the [other] camps, just as they camp so shall they travel, each man in his place according to their [various] banners.

Then the Tent of Meeting shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.

And the tent of meeting shall travel [after these two standards] with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps. As they encamp [i.e., in the same directions in which they are positioned], so do they travel [see 2:9], each man in his place, by their standards.

The banner of the camp of Ephraim, according to their divisions is on the west side, and the leader of the sons of Ephraim is Elishamah the son of Amihud.

On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Efrayim by their hosts: and the captain of the sons of Efrayim shall be Elishama the son of ῾Ammihud.

The standard of the camp of Ephraim, according to their hosts, on the west; and the chief of the children of Ephraim, Elishama ben Amihud.

Its division and their numbers is forty-thousand five hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand, five hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, forty thousand and five hundred.

Along with him are; the tribe of Menashe, and the leader of the sons of Menashe is Gamliel the son of Pedahtzur.

And by him shall be the tribe of Menashshe: and the captain of the children of Menashshe shall be Gamli᾽el the son of Pedażur.

And next to him, the tribe of Menasheh; and the chief of the children of Menasheh, Gamliel ben Pedatzur.

Its division and their numbers is thirty-two thousand two hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty two thousand, two hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

The tribe of Binyamin, and the leader of the sons of Binyamin is Avidan the son of Gid’oni.

Then the tribe of Binyamin: and the captain of the sons of Binyamin shall be Avidan the son of Gid῾oni.

And the tribe of Binyamin; and the chief of the children of Binyamin, Avidan ben Gidoni.

Its division and their numbers is thirty-five thousand four hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty five thousand, four hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

The total numbers for the camp of Ephraim is one hundred eight thousand one hundred according to their divisions, and they travel [in the] third [position].

All that were numbered of the camp of Efrayim were a hundred and eight thousand and one hundred, by their hosts. And they shall go forward in the third rank.

All of the numbered of the camp of Ephraim, one hundred and eight thousand and one hundred, according to their hosts; and they shall travel third.

The banner of the camp of Don is on the north side according to their divisions, and the leader of the sons of Don is Achiezer the son of Amishadai.

The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their hosts: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Aĥi῾ezer the son of ῾Ammishadday.

The standard of the camp of Dan, on the north, according to their hosts; and the chief of the children of Dan, Achiezer ben Amishadai.

Its division and their numbers is sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were sixty two thousand, seven hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.

Those who camp with him are; the tribe of Asher, and the leader of the sons of Asher is Pagi’el the son of Ochran.

And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pag῾i᾽el the son of ῾Okhran.

And encamped next to him, the tribe of Asher; and the chief of the children of Asher, Pagiel ben Achran.

Its divisions and their numbers is forty-one thousand five hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty one thousand, five hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, forty-one thousand and five hundred.

The tribe of Naftali, and the leader of the sons of Naftali is Achira the son of Einan.

Then the tribe of Naftali: and the captain of the children of Naftali shall be Aĥira the son of ῾Enan.

And the tribe of Naftali; and the chief of the children of Naftali, Achira ben Einan.

Its divisions and their numbers is fifty-three thousand four hundred.

And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty three thousand, four hundred.

And his host and their numbered ones, fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

The total numbers for the encampment of Don is one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred and they travel [in the] last [position] according to their [various] banners.

All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were a hundred and fifty seven thousand, six hundred. They shall go hindmost with their standards.

All of the numbered of the camp of Dan, one hundred and fifty-seven thousand and six hundred; last shall they travel, by their standards.

These are the numbers of Bnei Yisroel according to their fathers’ houses. The total numbers of the camps according to their divisions is six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

These are those who were numbered of the children of Yisra᾽el by the houses of their fathers: all those that were numbered of the camps by their hosts were six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.

These are the numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers' house, all the numbered of the camps according to their hosts — six hundred and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

The Levites were not counted among Bnei Yisroel just as Adonoy commanded Moshe.

But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Yisra᾽el; as the Lord commanded Moshe.

And the Levites were not counted in the midst of the children of Israel, as the L-rd had commanded Moses.

Bnei Yisroel did all which Adonoy commanded Moshe, so they camped according to their [various] banners and so they traveled, each man with his family according to his fathers’ house.

And the children of Yisra᾽el did according to all that the Lord commanded Moshe: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, everyone after their families, according to the houses of their fathers.

And the children of Israel did according to all that the L-rd had commanded Moses. Thus did they encamp by their standards, and thus did they travel, each according to his families, by his fathers' house.
