מתני' לפני אידיהן של עובדי כוכבים ג' ימים אסור לשאת ולתת עמהן - וכולהו משום דאזיל ומודה לעבודת כוכבים ביום אידו: שאלה במידי דהדר בעין כגון בהמה וכלים דכתיב (שמות כ״ב:י״ג) כי ישאל איש מעם רעהו וגו'. מלוה במידי דלא הדר בעין כגון מעות דכתיב (שם) אם כסף תלוה את עמי דמלוה להוצאה נתנה ומשלם לו מעות אחרים:
Before the festivals of the idolaters 3 days it is forbidden to do business with them - and all of this is because he will go and thank his idol on the day of his festival: "borrowing" (sheilah) [refers to] things that need to be returned, like animals and vessels, as it is written (shemos 22:13) "when a man borrows from his neighbor..." "borrowing" (malveh) [refers to] things that don't need to be returned, like money, as it is written (ibid) "if you lend [someone from] my nation money" because malveh is when [money] is given to spend and he (the borrower) pays him (the lender) with other money
שמח הוא לאחר זמן - למחר:

גמ' יום אידם - היינו עבודת כוכבים כדכתיב בההיא פרשה יקומו ויעזרכם:
יתנו עידיהם ויצדקו - השתא סלקא דעתיה דבעובדי כוכבים כתיב ואתמוהי מתמה יתנו עובדי כוכבים עידיהם יבואו עבודות כוכבים שעבדו ויעידו עליהם ויצדיקום:
עדות שהעידו בעצמם - ביום הדין שעבדו לעבודת כוכבים בעולם הזה:
ישמעו - עובדי כוכבים את העדות שמצות מעידות ויאמרו אמת דין הוא שראוין ישראל להצטדק:
ועידיהם המה - עבודת כוכבים תבוא ותעיד על עובדיה לחייבם:
בערבוביא - כולן מעורבבין ולא אומה ואומה בפני עצמה:
