אֶל בֵּית הָרֵכָבִים. בְּנֵי יוֹנָדָב בֶּן רֵכָב (ירמיה לה:ו), וּמִבְּנֵי יִתְרוֹ הָיוּ (מכילתא יתרו עמלק ב):
to the house of the Rechabites The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab, and they were of the sons of Jethro.
אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים. ״נָבִיא דַּה׳״ (תרגום יונתן):
the man of God The prophet of the Lord.
שׁוֹמֵר הַסַּף. ״אֲמַרְכְּלָא״ (תרגום יונתן), טְרֵשׁוֹרִי״ר בְּלַעַ״ז:
the keeper of the vessels Heb. שמר הסף. Jonathan renders: אמרכּלא (tresorier in French,) a treasurer.
בָּאֳהָלִים תֵּשְׁבוּ. בַּמִּדְבָּרִיּוֹת. אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם גָּרִים שָׁם. לֹא הָיָה לָהֶם חֵלֶק בָּאָרֶץ, שֶׁבְּנֵי גֵרִים הָיוּ (ספרי במדבר עח):
but you shall dwell in tents in the deserts where you dwell. They had no share in the land since they were the children of proselytes.
וַיְהִי בַּעֲלוֹת נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּר. עַל כָּרְחֵנוּ בָּאנוּ הָעִיר, לְכָךְ עַכְשָׁיו אָנוּ יוֹשְׁבִים בַּבָּתִּים:
And it came to pass when Nebuchadrezzar...came up Perforce we came to the city. Therefore, we are now dwelling in houses.
